Info on codes P2097 and p2099
Found some info on the codes I'm getting from installing headers.
DTC P2097 or P2099 (DI) DTC Descriptors DTC P2097
Fuel trim bias is used to keep the post catalyst air/fuel ratio within a predetermined range. This allows optimal catalyst efficiency under light load conditions at a steady cruise. The engine control module (ECM) constantly monitors how lean or rich the fuel trim bias is commanded, to determine if the fuel trim bias is greater than a calibrated amount. Conditions for Running the DTC
The rich correction limit for a condition causing a lean air/fuel ratio has been exceeded for greater than 4 seconds or for a cumulative of 30 seconds. Action Taken when the DTC Sets DTCs P2097 and P2099 are Type B DTCs. Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC DTCs P2097 and P2099 are Type B DTCs. Diagnostic Aids

Are the O2 sensors thermistors?

Thermistors are a resisitor that measure temperature.
O2 sensors operate off a slight voltage reading of .1 to .8 volts. They do have a heater used for cold start operation and they can read temperature of the exhaust. The cause of the code is the sensor is at the end of its limit for to long. My rear sensor stay at .8 volts most of the time which is causing the CEL to come on. Have to get the sensor to stay within the limits, with .5 volts being the optimum reading.

So it all still boils down to your rear 02s just simply reading too rich correct? Do you think the 02 extenders I PMed you about would help?

I don't know if those will work. They claim to get rid of p0430 and p0420 codes, which I don't have anymore.

Maybe it's just bad o2 sensors?

I bought a couple of O2 Sensor spacers and have never gotten the 2097 or the 2099 with no tune. I get 0160 and 0158 on the passenger side but I don't think thats related to the O2 sensor extenders. Still working on figuring that on out.

Unfortunately no the rear O2 sensors are not interchangeable.

Anybody still getting these codes after maybe a long winter slumber?
I'm getting a p2099. Shop can't find any leaks and cleared it. Over the weekend it came back. Could this be a fuel problem? Carbon on the valves?

I have the p2097 coming on again. It turned off sometime in winter and came back on during a highway trip. I think its been explained before here what causes it but my shop has welded my headers at the flanges so I doubt there is a leak there. I also have a tune installed.
Neither has fixed the issue. I wish I had an easy solution...

All I can really think of is a leak in the manifold but wouldn't that be an issue with the pre cat o2 sensor?

As far as I know the only solution is to tune it out. Unfortunately I don't own this car anymore but the whole experience has made me very leary of messing with the exhaust pre-mufflers on these cars.
