Edelbrocks requirements for the 2.3 begins and ends with "does it fit". For an OEM it isn't as simple as that. For example the blower lid on the LT4 was smaller till 2017 because it was made to conform to some pedestrian crash standard in Europe. Edelbrock doesn't have to deal with any of that.

True. But I did notice that the Edelbrock sits lower on the LT1 than the LT4 blower does on the ZL1.

A few races I would like to see are:

GT350 vs 15 Z28
GT350 vs 6th Gen 1SS 1LE
GT350R vs 6th Gen 1SS 1LE
GT (PP or non-PP) vs any 6th Gen SS
GT (PP or non-PP) vs 6th Gen V6 1LE Camaro

I think these would be very interesting.

GT350 vs 6th Gen 1SS 1LE (yes...I can't believe we haven't seen this. My humble opinion is the 1LE takes this one)
GT350R vs 6th Gen 1SS 1LE (again, no point, we know the 350R would win the outcome although maybe not by much)
GT (PP or non-PP) vs any 6th Gen SS (This has already happened...of course the SS takes the crown in almost every way except for visibility, and slightly less interior storage or whatever)
GT (PP or non-PP) vs 6th Gen V6 1LE Camaro (I wouldn't mind seeing this. I think the GTPP would clearly be the favorite among testers, although on a short twisty track the 1LE may be able to keep up with it or possibly even best it, but you can't beat the V8 if driver enjoyment is factored into the overall win. Now...Non-PP versus the 1LE...might be different story)

I think these would be very interesting.
My thoughts...

Funny thing is on the same track and same driver the are dead equal according to the times.

That the lap time difference was what it was came down to agility vs muscle. RP specifically noted that the GT350 was more agile, more of a sports car and the ZL1 more of a muscle car. Slightly different approaches netting essentially the same result. RP's thoughts are summarized between about 18:40 and 20:10.

Except, the results aren't essentially the same. There's a clear performance winner.

Indeed. The attainable, triple treat ZL1 that can best a GT350R at the track, run with a Hellcat at the strip and still be cushy date night ride.

Bottom line - the ZL1 weighs some ~250 lbs more than the R so not shit, you feel the weight. It's a GT. Not a stripped track car.

According to you. But this wasn't a beauty contest. They were driving the cars on the track, not taking them to a car show. Ask me and I'll say the ZL1 looks better.

Except for the bragging rights, a half-percent difference in lap times, same day/same pro driver is really a wash as far as most of the rest of us are concerned. 0.4 seconds is just noise when there's over a whole second of scatter among your best clear-track lap times.

If it had been the GT350R that had put down the incrementally better number, I'd be saying exactly the same thing in precisely the same words. You should know me that well by now.

Gen5 was a much better looking Camaro. As soon as GM changed the shape of it in Gen6, they 'killed it'. Just the other day, I've seen a new (white) ZL1. It's remarkable how the round hood resembles a toilet seat. Now, every time I walk in to my bathroom, I can't stop thinking about that white ZL1.
