No worries...lol....Mustangs must have a lot to choose from, or a very low price or something...lol...Congrats on the new car.

I did my best to talk her into a Camaro, but she preferred the Mustang. I have to admit it is nice. I did wear one of my Camaro shirts when we took delivery

When Ford launched the Mustang in April 1964, it unknowingly fired the first salvo in what would become known as the Pony Car Wars. General Motors, unwilling to let Ford go unchallenged, fired back with the Chevrolet Camaro in September 1966. The 1967 Camaro met the Mustang in terms of performance, looks, and handling, yet the Ford dominated the sales charts for a decade.
While the cars would jockey for the title over the intervening years, the real winners all along were the enthusiasts. Competition, as ever, improved the breed, with cars that now boast more power and performance than ever could have been imagined some five decades ago.

Mustang vs. Camaro: A Sales War to End all Wars

When it comes to car rivalries, there are few beefs that compare to the Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang. For almost 50 years, these two muscle cars have been going head-to-head against one another. Whether that’s through performance, price, or the amount of smoke each can create from its tires. However, today we’re talking about a different battle between the two pony cars: a battle of sales figures. It appears the Mustang has taken the crown from the Camaro, which had six years on top.

According to the Detroit News, the first five months of this year saw the Mustang come out on top in the sales wars. With 56,571 people buying the Mustang, the Camaro was beat by a whopping 20,000 units. This is a huge win for Ford, and gives the blue oval a much needed push for when the GT350 twins come out. However, those figures don’t really tell the whole story.

Ford introduced the new S550 Mustang just this year. And when new cars come out, sales figures usually spike due to pent up demand for a new product. That said, success is measured in how the car performs in the long run rather than just the first year. Based on that, the Camaro is still doing extremely well. This rings especially true with the unveiling of the 2016 sixth generation Camaro.

Normally, when a new car debuts, there’s a significant drop in demand of the outgoing model, but given that the Camaro is still selling in good numbers, the Mustang may not have that much more time on top.

We are still a few months away from Chevy releasing the new Camaro to the public. Given the record of accomplishment of the 5th generation, and all the improvements made to the 6th, the Mustang should enjoy its time in the limelight because it’s likely to get knocked off. Who would you put your money on? The Camaro or the Mustang to win the new muscle car wars?

Losing to dodge blows no matter what.. The 5th gen is a dinosaur, hope the performance changes for the 6 gen does the trick..

I hate to say this mustang hit the ball out of the park. Went to a coffee and cars last week had about 400 cars. 100 had to be 2015 mustangs in all colors and configurations. There were maybe 10 Camaros. The colors on the mustangs were so vivid in the Sunlight. The Camaros dark and dingy. black, grey, blue. I do not think Chevy understands Eye-Candy, especially with the 19-25 crew who are lining up at ford dealers and ordering like crazy..

Chevrolet offers the same color palette that Ford does on these cars. Reds, Yellows, silver/gray, blues. For has orange....Camaro doesn't this time around. I hardly chalk that up as much of a difference, although orange would be great to have.

Ford sold a boat load of these over the first few months, but look at the latest July figure. The sales dropped tremendously, down to pre-S550 levels. It still sold more than Camaro, but not anything like the first few months. It will be interesting to see how 2016 plays out. The Camaro launching over the winter months should mean we won't see as big of initial sales as we would if it were a spring or summer launch, but instead those sales will spread out more over the winter 2015, through spring 2016 months. I really can't say which I feel will win the sales lead...Mustang or Camaro. It will be close.
