Motor Mounts Advice

I have a question in regards to motor mounts.

I recently installed a set of headers and due to the flex of the motor (or weakness of the motor mounts) and the weight of the car in a turn, i get contact between the frame and the header (when the car is off, there is only about 1/2" clearance between the two). To solve this, I'd like to put in a more rigid motor mount to stop the torquing of the motor and minimize the impact the momentum of the car has and try to eliminate this contact.

I've seen several threads for motor mounts, but I was wondering if I could get some advice on WHICH I should be looking for.

Car is a car that does not see the track, but can be driven spiritedly, so super rigid for track wise is not needed.

I appreciate the advice.

Thank you!

i am cammed and have headers and the shake and rumble does not create any fitment issues with my kooks.

some people have moved their engine slightly but i wouldnt recommend that unless they are not squared on the mounts. another fix people have used is to dimple the headers...again wouldnt recommend that.

what size headers and what brand? there are brands out there that wouldnt stand for improper fitment and will make it right or tell you how to.

^^ this

Don't change engine mounts to compensate for poorly made headers...

However, I have thought about changing my mounts because of engine rock caused by my cam. What mounts did you go with?

If you look up rigid motor mounts in the dictionary, a picture of the Pfadt MM's are next to it.

In defense of the torque solution mount, mine have been fantastic. They also offer a delrin bushing if you're so inclined to make it semi-solid.

I was producing over 600whp with my twin turbo setup. And it got to the point where my motor was twisting so much it was hitting the firewall.

I personally went with ZL1 Motor mounts (which are for sale btw) because i figured if it is put into a camaro pushing over 580hp... it should be good for my car.

I use to daily drive my car and i could feel that it was much tighter.. but it was not harsh by any means. So for the money it was nice.

Haha yup, blew the motor 3 weeks ago and now will be going to a more solid mount. There is honestly probably 150 miles on the ZL1 mounts.

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.
