How much engine bay space does Alpha have?

When I was doing my cam and header install I was thinking about how great it is that we have so much room in our engine bay. Does anyone know what the engine bay space is like on the Alpha platform? I'm assuming it will be much tighter than Zeta.

It'll fit an LT-series V8.

I understand that. I'm saying how does it compare to the space in the 5th gen? How easy will it be to work on it?

Well, I don't have any exact metrics, but my gut impression is that, under the hood, the ATS is a bit more cramped than the current Camaro. Doesn't necessarily mean, though, that the new Camaro will follow suit. The CTS shows that Alpha can be stretched quite a bit.

The truth is, though, that pretty much all modern cars are cramped under the hood. Stuff is jammed in everywhere, making it hard to work on.

I marvel when I look under the hood at old cars from the 1950s-80s, and there's so much space between everything.

my V (sigma) parked next to a ATS (alpha) is almost the exact same foot print. The 2nd gen V is actually a modified sigma chassis as well...not zeta.
my engine bay is much tighter than my camaro was, for sure. Like knuckle buster tight working on headers or the front area of the motor. Roots blowers and centris can all be done...turbo under the hood, not so much. It may be a hint of what is to come.

Alpha is smaller for sure! I have an ATS and it looks like a toy car compared to my camaro.....The engine bay will be tight IMO

I used to have a '90 Chevy Silverado. I literally sat in the engine bay when I changed my spark plugs. Ah, those were the days...

In my '72 Nova with a straight 6, I could darn near stand INSIDE the engine compartment and change the plugs.

Course I was a whole lot skinnier back then, but still.......

Nowadays, the battery has to be moved to the trunk because it won't fit under the hood anymore.

The battery is in the trunk or behind and under seats because it is way more efficient being cooler and for weight distribution purposes far more than for room to fit. Any number of under hood components could be relocated to fit the battery under the hood if they wanted to.

Weight redistribution. It's like that for a reason!

One of the things that sold me on the 5th gen was how nice and neat the engine bay was. I enjoyed my 4th gen compared to the other cars on the road, and this thing is even roomier.

I still think the main reason it was moved, was due to lack of room under the hood, with the weight distribution improvement an added benefit.
