2016 IIHS Crash Testing (Camaro, Mustang, Challenger)
I haven't seen this pop up on the forums, but ran across this IIHS crash test on the 2016 Camaro SS tonight.

Thanks for sharing. Maybe I'm bias, but it seems like the Camaro faired better than the others. The cabin stayed more intact. Go Alpha chassis!

I watched the 3 individual tests before watching the range of ratings vid. I had noticed the Challenger and to a lesser extent the Mustang retaining the driver side wheel and shoving it up in the foot well area. Not good. Hopefully I never have to test this out myself.

Camaro wheel flew off because of all the light-weighting GM did.
It seemed liked the A pillar on Camaro didn't really move while on the Mustang it came in towards the cabin.. Wish the videos were a little better from an interior standpoint. Challenger.. Not good. I don't want to find out how my 2013 Mustang would do, especially since I'm still waiting for the airbag module to be replaced. Heh. |

Very, very interesting. I was wondering how the three compared to each other.
It is amazing how the mustang A-pillar and roof caved. Wow! |

Looks like the Camaro did pretty well.

You really don't want to be in any car in these accidents..you're not walking away from any of them. You'll likely fair the best in the Camaro, but you're still going to the hospital.

That would definitely hurt, but it does look survivable and there was little to no interior distortion.

Just because you go to the hospital doesn't mean you're seriously injured... Or injured at all.

Camaro definitely faired better than the other two.
Interesting observations, both the Mustang and the Challenger lost their front fascias completely. Camaro did not. Both Mustang and Challenger had permanent movement in the dashboard, Camaro had nearly none. Mustang and Challenger's A-pillar and door structure crushed quite significantly...Camaro's A-pillar hardly moved at all, and the door's damage looked less significant towards the front of the vehicle. I'm actually pretty shocked that the other two's A-pillars gave way like that.... |
