LT1 vs. LF3

We all know that GM is working on a TT V6, however we don't know where this engine would fit in the model lineup. One important note from C7 development is that they claimed that a TT V6 got the same fuel economy as the LT1, so they went with the V8. I'm assuming that this same thing would be true with the Camaro.

So moving onto the 6th gen, what engines will fall where? The SS will most likely get an LT1, but with only 450 HP, the base engine can't be the LF3. What does everyone else think?

I wouldn't mind the "RS" trim being a performance v6.

The base engine is a 2.0 turbo then a 2.8 turbo for base models then the lf3 twin turbo l99 LS3 then LS7 for the Z28

...It frustrates me not knowing, but... when the Corvette fully comes out with it's performance engine options....we will have a clearer picture. The LF3 TT is a corporate engine on the horizon....and soon to fit the not too distant Camaro in one shape or another....with about 400 HP...

I don't see GM tuning the LF3 to go toe to toe with the LT1 with the factory tune. LT1 will have more TQ, and more HP, while I'd guess the LF3 at 380 - 400 HP/TQ. Maybe more in something like an ATS-V....but then again they may just throw the LT1 in it.

I'd be pretty surprised if we saw the LF3 come in at 450 or more HP/TQ. I'm thinking its going to take an aftermarket tune to surpass the stock LT1....then look out.

..and that's the answer. The LF3 is what it is. A replacement, not designed to compete against anything, but the EPA and GOV reg's. That is what it is cleverly designed to do so.

What's the point of it if it gets the same gas mileage as an LT1 in the same application? I just don't see where it would fit. Maybe the LF3 in SS and the LT1 in a Z28?

The TTV6 fits under the LT1 and with a simple tune will be producing a lot more power than stock. IMO it competes now with dodge RT cars, bmw 331(?) turbo v6 but by the time it is released these cars will be using a newer engine and i bet we see more v6 turbos. There is a huge market for turbo cars, a TTV6 is just awesome compared to the I4 single turbo competition. I see base V6, TTV6, LT1 for SS, ls7 replacement for Z28, LT4 supercarged V8 for ZL1. What will the the ttv6 be called? Do know for sure the Camaro gets the TT?

The TT V6 is the LF3. We don't know anything about the engines for the 6th gen, except that it will most likely have a V8 in some model
