2015 1LE vs 2003 Silverado SS w/ Whipple

My friend has a 2003 Silverado SS, and is getting a Whipple by the end of the year. He thinks he'll be able to beat my 1LE. The truck stock does 0-60 ~6.8 seconds with a 1/4 mile close to 15 seconds. I highly doubt the Whipple will drop his 1/4 mile by 3 seconds. My 1LE will be mostly stock, just VMAX TB and CAI intake. We have a $500 bet on it. I think I have this no problem, but he thinks he'll walk me. What do you guys think?

Just depends what other things he might get done my denali Crewcab ran 11.70s with boost. I think he will get close to it IMO.

Your going to destroy him unless he has major mods done at the same time.

Basic Whipple kit MIGHT put him in the high 13's.

Trucks can be strange ducks. I've seen some that sound and look super fast only to disappoint and some that look total stock only to scream.

if hes that confident, hes probably getting other stuff done as well...might want to consider adding headers or something as insurance.

A now defunct company in MI called Wheel to Wheel had a Silverado SS that had a turbo or blower on it. (cant remember).....It went door to door with my Evo 8 that would run 11.3 @ 122.

His truck is completely stock, and all he is adding is the Whipple, no supporting mods at all. There's no way he's taking 3 seconds off his 1/4 mile time.

Get a set of long tubes as stated before. You'll love them! Then once you win take that $500 and consider it a set of long tubes for practicality $200, considering most run around $700

That all wheel drive truck is going to launch and hold traction pretty well, regardless of the weight and they respond well to boost. The 1LE is a road course car and not a drag car, with most 1/4 mile stock times being slower than a regular SS. Should be a good race, but most people aren't running sub 13s in these cars without a driver mod. Not sure of your experience and how much track time you'll have in your car before the race, but should be a good one. Make sure to post videos of the results!

Well I'm going to get LT headers and a tune before the race. It shouldn't be a problem now.

If ALL he did was add a supercharger, you should have no problems, especially if you tune and add LHT.

He has 345 crank hp stock. If he is an auto, he'll weigh a few hundred pounds more than you. He will have 450 crank or more depending on the setup..

Adding your mods should put you around 430-440 whp (I have seen a few stock 1LE's put 390-400). Of course, your not built for drag racing but you should still do well.

An extended cab/regular bed Silverado 1/2 ton weighs quite a bit more than a few hundred pounds over a Camaro, it's a more like another 1300 lbs.

The Silverado SS would need more than a supercharger to keep up.

I'm assuming he was referring to the 1500 series SS (curb approximately 4000 lbs). If it is a larger series than the truck will have an even greater power/weight ratio disadvantage.

Some trucks are absolute monsters at the strip. Some just sound really loud, which for some reason makes the owner add 300 more "simulated" hp.
