2" Header Fitment

I'm thinking of going up to 2" headers and 3" exhaust with my stage 2 build, which includes fully ported heads, blower, 102mm and 4.5/5" intake. I'm currently running TSP 1-7/8" headers into factory exhaust.

Texas speed seems to have the best value, but they note that the engine might need to be shifted to clear the steering shaft with their 2" headers.

Can anyone confirm this or if there is another 2" setup that does not require the engine to be shifted?

I run Kooks 2" headers and the clearance is tight, but fine by the steering knuckle. The only real issue I had was the #2 plug wire kept getting burnt, but I switched to Accel ceramic boot wires and they're fine. I know others run the TSP 2" headers without issues, so I'm sure they chime in.

Sterring boot will be the problem with clearance being tight as stated above

I hear people saying they had to "ding" the headers to fit 2", this wasn't an issue on yours? I have would like to run 2" but not taking a hammer to new headers to do so.

No dinging or denting was required on mine. In fact, they have better clearance compared to the 1-7/8" headers I had before that.

Seems to me that since they know this is a problem, that they should put a slight bend in the tubing to compensate for that area...

Texas Speed is cheaper and decent quality; however, Stainless Works(Power), Kooks, and American Racing are much better quality. Fitment on the Texas Speed is OK but comparatively the others have much better clearances around spark plugs and the dreaded steering shaft. Passenger side headers are no issue in any of the brands listed besides the little stud on the frame.

I've had no issues fitting 2" ARH headers on my 2010 SS. Just ziptie the o2 sensor wires away from the exhaust. Easy peezy install too. Took about 2 hours to pull the headers and exhaust and install the new exhaust.

There is a guy selling a new 2" header, 3" exhaust setup in the ZL1 classifieds. Might be worth checking out?

I had to shift my engine slightly to the passenger side when I install PFADT 1 7/8" Try Y headers for clearance on the steering knuckle. It was very simple. Loosen two motor mount bolts and slide it over a bit. Problem solved.
