Some trucks are absolute monsters at the strip. Some just sound really loud, which for some reason makes the owner add 300 more "simulated" hp.
The only configuration the 2003 Silverado SS came in was a extended cab with a 6.5' bed. They weigh around 5200 lbs.

lol

If that is the case, and the truck owner was honest on the upgrade, this would be a slaughter, not a race.

I think he'll get you in 60' but you should have the 1/4 mile. Good luck!

May be closer than you'll like, but if you hook then you should take it

Hmm, trucks can be tricky, dont underestimate them, just to be safe add some supporting mods to your existing mods to give it that extra push.

Has he done his research on the Whipple? It's all over the Silverado SS forums about how many problems people had with them destroying motors. I would advise him to do some more research before moving forward. Looks like they'll work fine as long as you have a ton of supporting mods and an aftermarket tune, which you stated he wasn't planning on doing.

Trucks can be deceiving. Here's a 5.3 Silverado with ported heads, cam, stall, headers, and tune racing against a stock 2014 SS.

but this is supposedly a stock 6.0 on about 6psi or so through a stock 4L65E.
the combo + driver will weigh around 5500 even after dropping weight & only having a little gas. shoot, my 4x4 RCSB stripped of everything except the interior & running on fumes only got down to 4300lb without me.

sounds to me like this race will be roughly equal power but a 1500lb disparity through a slightly-not-as-bad-as-a-4L60. i say he gets the jump but the camaro will pull the win on the back half (so long as the driver's worth his salt)
