I never understood this mentality. My fiancé is all for putting a babyseat in an R8 or Gallardo - the camaro IS our family car!

Because it isn't a family car no matter how much you might wan't to make it so. It isn't. Can you make it your family car? Sure can. But, the vast majority of people in this world would never ever view a Camaro as a family car. Trust me i know. I have two car seats in the back of mine. I don't mind one bit and the kids enjoy it. But, they get picked up from school and taken maybe on the weekend to a show or a club cruise. That is the extent of the Camaro being used in any fashion as a family car. 95% of the time we all ride in my wifes Traverse. THAT is a family vehicle. I have matching color scheme car seats. Most times i leave them in even at shows. You should see how many puzzled looks i get when people see them inside. People are mostly shocked and amazed to see car seats back there. Then they comment how sweet it is that they match perfect. |

You did what you had to do. I would have done the same only I would have bought a fullsized pick truck because that's what I would have to do.

For eight years our family car was a 94" wheelbase subcompact. During that time, it was also my autocross, time-speed-distance rallye car and was an ongoing project car. The closest we ever got to mainstream family cars was intermediate sport sedans/coupes, always equipped with the strongest available doses of 'sport' and performance and usually modified from there. Being fun to drive and having better than average performance stats always took priority over mind-numbing practicality. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't do it any differently. If I have any regrets at all, it's having had to buy a car a couple of years before the 3rd Gen Camaros came out and not being able to justify a second car payment. Norm |
