There's nothing wrong with your trunk release. Stick the key in all the way, and crank it clockwise. A lot of people were afraid to crank the key too hard fearing it would break, not so.

I never knew about the key release in the interior of the car. Was kind of concerned about their not being a key lock on the outside and only the button release at the drivers side door. Then again, I first was miffed that the fuel door was remote release but if the cable breaks you are as they say in Greece, screwed.

Speaking of which, how is it Ford has found a way to eliminate gas caps but GM not so much?

Thanks,

It's not a better mouse-trap, believe me. It's designed to seal tighter than a normal gas cap to reduce vapors. Thanks, tree-huggers.

On my Mustang GT, you have to be sure you have the special tube/funnel thing to fill from a gas can if you run dry.

Plus, living in Philly, I bought Ford's "locking capless cover." Because, if someone has the right length rigid tube, they can open the two valves and siphon your gas real easy.

So, I have to keep a key for the filler cover, plus the tube/funnel in case I run out.

Five will get you ten, Ford will go back to the capped filler.

I've been driving for over half a Century...you'd think I would have discovered Ford's capless filler and the fact the Mustang 5.0 takes EIGHT quarts of oil before I drove it home.
I love the car with its all-glass roof...but you're right...nothing is simple any more.
Camaro's battery in the trunk, plus a key to open the trunk from the back seat, for example. Oy!

Uh oh...this, from USA TODAY...

"GM's 2013 Cadillac XTS sedan is the latest with the capless fuel-filler that's gaining popularity.

XTS, powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 with all-wheel drive, makes GM the third automaker to adopt a fuel-filler without the traditional gas cap. It follows Ford, which pioneered the feature on the 2009 Explorer and has moved it onto many models. Chrysler uses no-cap filler systems on the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300."

Amen to that brother. I thought 22yr old women made me feel old. Actually they make me feel young.

However, new technology makes me feel old. I can wrap my arms around most of it, when I am aware of it. I hate to be a stubborn "fuddy-duddy", but sometimes, why reinvent the wheel...........cars I will figure out, but how about these new front loading washing machines that have more computer power than Apollo 11 lunar module, really?

Okay, back on the meathooks...

But how often do you get to wrap your arms around a 22 year old woman???

The "pull tab" release on the convertible is there for kidnapped children to use.
They don't have to be kidnapped...some times it's just better to keep them in there so they don't damage the leather seats

Take your car to dealer. They had early production problems with cable tracking and should be able to adjust w/o further issues.
