Is mobil1 the oil that comes in the car? Thinking of doing a 500 mile and 1500 mile oil change then switching to amsoil.

Chevy switched to AC Delco Dexos thats what they recommend
in the owners manual on page 326 or on page 189 they recommend other brands that meet Dexso1 requirements for racing

https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam...ro1stPrint.pdf
with that being said i also plan on changing the oil at 500 miles and 1500 to Schaeffers 9000 5w30 it meets dexso1 requirements

Schaeffers 9000 huh? This is a new one for me. Mobile 1 is fairly cheap. If you go to amazon you can get a quart for $4.66 if you buy them buy the case of 6. So with a filter less than $60. That sounds better than what I pay for amsoil. lol

GM always has deals for oil changes...$39.99...granted that is only for 5 quarts, but you pay extra for the other 5 quarts, probably $65 -$70 ish...my dealer typically uses Mobil 1 as their premium oil.

Maybe the 10 qt gives a longer oil change interval as well. My 2010 BMW 528I was 6 cylinder with 7 qt capacity and BMW suggested 15k mile or 1 year change intervals. I am curious if I flush the oil a few times early then run the oil for extended periods what the oil analysis is going to be like. I think we will be able to get 10k miles easy. Now if I tracked the car here in florida I would not wait as long. This car should almost feel like it is idling at 70-80mph at that is 85% of my drive now a days.

Yes I run Scheaffers in my truck and my car it's really great oil. There nothing wrong with Amsoil or Mobil 1 I just prefer Scheaffers 9000

I'd stick with the Mobil1 dexos1 certified in a 5w-30.
I can only find AC Delco in synthetic blend. It's filled by Mobil. Not sure if AC Delco syn blend has its own additive package vs Mobil sync blend?

For the LT1, I'd definitely run a full synthetic dexos1 certified oil.
