2016 camaro 0-60 and 1/4 mile time

SS 7 speed manual
0-60 = 4.2
1/4 mile = 12.5

Anyone else want to predict the performance?

I'm no good at predicting quarter mile times, but I'd be so happy if the SS ran 12.5 or better all stock. I'd like to see a 3.9 0-60 time too, but that's probably unlikely.

assuming 440hp, and 3600lbs, im thinking 12.6's will be advertised, and us mere mortals will get 13.0's.

Most mere mortals are getting 13s with the current ss. I think high mid 12s will be common with the a8 transmission.

If the scat pack challengers can do mid 12s with an a average driver with their weight, a 460hp lighter camaro with the a8 should best that with an average driver too.

V8: 4.2 and 12.5 (average driver upper 4s or low 5s, and mid to high 12s)

V6 5.2 and 13.5 (average driver mid to upper 5s and high 13s/very low 14s)

Here's my thumbnail analysis
1) Compare the Vette and Camaro performance with the LS3 mill as a baseline.
2) Assume the same jump in performance the Vette when LT1 installed.
3) Adjust for 200 lb weight reduction.

1) Baseline C6 Vette, G5 Camaro SS
Vette = 3300 lbs,436 hp, 430 tq
0-60 = 4.0, 1/4 =12.4

Camaro SS = 3900 lbs,426 hp, 420 tq
0-60 = 4.7, 1/4 =13,1

Delta 0-60 = .7 , 1/4 = .7

2) LT1 jump in performance
C7 vette 460 hp, 465 tq
0-60 = 3.8. 1/4 =12.0

LT1 Delta 0-60 = .2, 1/4 = .4

3) Weight performance bonus
Looking at the difference between the Vette and Camaro.
600 lbs and 0-60 = .7, 1/4 = .7
Let's assume the world is basically linear so it's approximately .1 sec per 100 lbs. so it's an additional . 2

So the numbers we have all been waiting for are......

Camaro SS (LT1) 0-60 = 4.3, 1/4 = 12.5

You factored in the weight loss for the Camaro, but not the 100 pound weight gain for the Corvette (base to base). We also already know that LT1 that the Camaro gets will be different from the one the Corvette currently has. At a minimum, it will get a tri-Y headers, which the Corvette's LT1 does not have (yet).

I'm going to guess 4.2 and 12.3

I like this analysis.

I wonder how the gearing with factor in? With an 8-speed auto and 7-speed manual, the rear pinion gear should be a little more aggressive, but there will also be more shifting to take into play. I wonder if this would actually hurt times for manuals...more shifting and all...

The weight reduction seems to be largely unsprung as well. I wonder how that will impact times. If the wheel size is reduced from 20" to 19" that could be worth a tenth or two. I am really hoping the smaller chassis will roll out with 19" rims but it'll LOOK LIKE 20" rims on the current Gen 5 in terms of proportions.

Thanks for the Vette weight gain miss,
I'm buying at 4.2 and 12.5

So we are basically better than an LS2 powered vette and a little slower off the line than an LS3 powered C6, not bad and we get sort of a back seat
