Go to a different dealer. Tell Chevrolet what a bunch of ####s these guys are (in other words).

This stinks. You really need to try another dealer. I can’t believe this tool’s attitude. Cars don’t have to throw a code to have problems

I had a similar experience with my car, not transmission related, but an issue none the less. I was given the run around by Chevrolet customer service, the dealership was not very informational or helpful and in the end, Chevrolet customer service told me that the dealership said that there was no issue and that I was wrong...case closed! I have never been treated like this by any other vehicle manufacturer, I do not bring up issues unless they are real. I have purchased 2 brand new Corvette's from GM and a few other GM products, a return customer so to speak, and I was still dismissed and told that I was wrong and my car did not have any issues. Good luck getting your issue resolved, are there any other Chevrolet dealerships in the area that you could take your car to?

GM seems to have a real real bad NVH problem when it comes to shifting and drivetrain slop. I haven't had many other vehicles but ive had a 4L60, Allison, and now the 8L90 and they all clunk, shift inconsistently, and unnecessarily hard at low speeds and especially on the 2-3. They also like to put a lot of backlash on the gears, which when youre in first gear and step on the gas and let off its almost undriveable.

It's very hard on a forum to know if you really have an issue or not, however, I commend you for keeping your cool (if that's what happened). Honestly, I'd be pretty pissed if I was treated like that. I wish you the best of luck. I think going forward, if you're speaking with a mechanic or even the service manager, and you don't like what you're hearing, it may be best to politely ask to speak with the GM.

Mine shifts odd / hard from time to time, but I'm extraordinarily happy with the lack of driveline slop. Although, that's sometimes luck of the draw... all parts have a minimum and maximum specification, if you happen to have a lot of driveline parts on the lower end of the spec, the stacking effect translates into a greater amount of slop.

One dealership refused to warranty a cracked wheel. I went to another dealership and they covered it under warranty. Go to a different dealership.

I picked up my 2017 V6 Camaro in August. I've driven it 5000km. I noticed the transmission was clumsy on upshifts, downshifting from 3->2 is horrendous, and switching between p/r/n/d shakes the car.

I took the car in for 2 appointments. First one, they confirmed my transmission was shifting harshly, and did a reprogram. This didn't fix it. The tech also confirmed the P/R/N/D issue, and booked a second appointment.

Second appointment, I went in. They said there's no issues. The tech said I could come by the next day to talk with the transmission tech and go for a ride with him to demonstrate the problems.

I went by today: The foreman came out, refused to go for a ride with me, and told me they're not going to do anything. He said my transmission is fine. I showed him the P/R/N/D issue. He said "Seems fine, looks like the engine is just releasing the torque". I asked him why the new V6 Camaro on the lot doesn't do it, he said "That's not a fair comparison, it hasn't been driven yet." I went on to ask him why other 2017 V6 Camaros shift better than mine, and he went on to mock me asking me if the weather was the same, if the brand of gas the two compared cars were the same, if our axle ratios and engines were the same (he was messing with me at this point because we were talking about identical V6 Camaros). The foreman told me that was final, and the shop won't look at my car again. He also told me even if it shifts poorly, he doesn't care, because it's not showing a check engine light. For the record, I have an official form stating that they confirmed the issue on the first visit.

I already had a conversation going with Chevrolet directly, but they keep getting back to me to tell me "All the information hasn't come in on the case", and that "The dealership hasn't gotten back to us". They told me to wait until Monday. The past two times they called me to update me, they told me "The dealership hasn't told us anything."

So basically, dealership denies problems, and Chevrolet customer service is going to update me on Monday... but at this point, I expect more of "We haven't heard back yet", and to "wait another week". I told the person on the phone that the foreman told me to "keep doing the 3->2 shifts until the car breaks, then we'll fix it". I asked them if Chevrolet is okay with me purposefully breaking the car, by using a feature that isn't working as intended, repeatedly, per the foreman's instruction.

I'm in Canada, by the way. No lemon laws.

Who's the dealer? Sound like azzholes. Did the store mgr know his service center are being azzholes or does he condone it?

Sorry to hear but I'm not at all surprised. If you can't get results at another dealer maybe it's time to think about dumping out of it and eliminating the stress this lemon is causing you. I will dump my car in a heart beat and take the hit if it starts making my life miserable and I'm not finding any solutions. Sad but this is what servicing these issues seem to have come to.

Cameron,

The ultimate fix for the A8 is the A10. You nailed that in another post. A8 has chronic issues and any Chevy service department knows it.

Until then,

I did some research and found two sources you can utilize, but before using them:

1. Have you met these people face to face and told them what you've told us?

Service Manager

Service Director (larger shops)

Dealer General Manager

Dealer owner

2. Is there another dealer in your area?

--------------

If they all fail, then Canada has a couple of sources to help

1. BBB.org (They are in Canada too) File a complaint against the dealer online.

2. CAMVAP - Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan

www.camvap.ca/

Quote:
The Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP) is a dispute resolution program for consumers in Canada who are experiencing problems with the assembly of their vehicle or with how the manufacturer implements its new-vehicle warranty.
