Broken strut tower brace bolt!!!!!!!!!!

How urgent is this do I need to worry about the car collapsing on me if I punch it?? It still seems very tight!

I would replace it pretty quickly. That must have been a defective bolt since those are 10.9 bolts. Judging by the gouge in the strut tower brace though how high did you torque it down? Mine are only 30 lb/ft.

Those bolts aren't providing much surface area on the brace... I would run washers underneath...

Washers are actually provided underneath the strutbar.

Yep stop when it clicks. You also have to set the torque wrench up. You set it at the middle of the range. Example 20 to 100 you would set it at 40. Put it on something that won't turn at that setting. The click it 3 times in both directions. Then set it to the torque you need

Set it up ? Now that's something the guy didn't say at all. So if the other ones are over torqued but didnt break, don't try to loosen them Right? Leave well enuff alone

Most people have no idea how to use a torque wrench. Even the profesionals. You might want to replace the bolts. If you over torqued them they may break under use.

Yes, replace the bolts. They'll likely break over time. I would suggest putting the washers under the head of the bolt... Those bolts do not provide enough surface area for the diameter of those holes...
