My question, why the hell doesn't this thing have the A10? Especially considering a large majority of A8s are eating their TCs. I take it they have upgraded the 8L90 to a 8L100 or something to handle the new power.
The 10 spd does not fit, and the 8 speed was upgraded to perform better than the 8 speed we have now, and I think it performs pretty well minus the tc issues.

Then again I doubt the 8 speed we have now, as good as it is, is commonly considered good enough for a 120K supercar so I wonder just how much better it is. The MT article says it shifts faster.

The beauty of a multispeed transmission is that when you need more torque at the wheels, you can just shift to a lower gear. If its an automatic, it'll probably do it before you even know you should.

Yes, in the same gear (say 4th) with a more aggressive final you will accelerate harder (provided the traction is there, which isn't a given with a very powerful car at speeds below 100 mph). But the difference between a 2:41 & a 3.50 is about the same as shifting down 1 gear in the 8 speed. So, 4th vs 4th ... harder acceleration. But a shorter rear gear its not going to be much different in 5th than the original would do in 4th. But you've also spent an extra tenth or two shifting along the way.

Absurd stats. I don't love the car, but can certainly admit that it will be a beast. I'd read elsewhere that this car is pushing 3700lbs or so, but the listed curb weight tells another story.

I'm a bit surprised at the price, I honestly thought it'd start below 6 figures. Place your bets now on how it stacks up against the ACR.

Forget the 60's-70's. You're seeing the pinnacle era of automotive right now.

I saw the weight also. It has to be wrong since it's exactly the same weight as a C7 Z06. Price? Based on '17 Z06/Z06 at 92,500 I would have thought this would be close to 105k. The difference between a base 2013 Z06 & ZR1 was approx. 20-23K if I remember.

From what I can find, the base C7 Z06 weighs 3,520 lbs. The additional 140 lbs on the ZR1 would bring it to 3,660 lbs.

That is the most important part to me IMO. To me this was a clear send the C7 out with a bang and take down the times the ACR posted.

We have sold three Z06/Z07s, cheapest was $107k and the most was $110k sticker price.

They said it won't be double the price of a Stingray.. I would assume that would be taking the "BASE" trim of each one.. So, probably under 110k starting out.
