Interesting read on Mustang forum

This is a mustang forum member who lives near where the 6th gen Camaro will be revieled. This is what he wrote.

I saw a line of Corvette's heading south on Jefferson Ave yesterday heading towards Detroit. It looked like a Corvette club out for a drive on this favorite cruising street by the lake; it was a drop everything and watch the parade type of event. The new Camaro is supposed to be introduced soon on Belle Isle which is about 5 miles south down Jefferson from me. In the parade of Corvette's was what looked like a smaller Corvette Convertible (it was yellow). By the time it dawned on me that *this* may be the 2016 Camaro without cammo being escorted to its intro spot they were all gone.

In my brief encounter it looked like a 7/8 version of a Corvette Convertible complete with the same do-dad in the center of the hood. It had the same large bulges for the wheel openings and similar design cues.

Time will tell if this is indeed the new Camaro or not without the cammo (just a few days now) but if it is then Chevy will really be upping the ante!

I would've thought even the alpha based car would look big next to a vette.

I'm thinking he saw a Saturn Sky. There is no chance that the 6th gen could be described as a '7/8ths scale Corvette'. Even the ATS is several inches longer & taller than the Corvette. But a quick glance at a Sky, especially if it were modified in some way ... I could see the possibility for confusion. And I could also see a Sky owner hanging out with the Corvette crowd, or at the very least tagging along when he sees a group of them go by.

On top of that, GM wouldn't be driving the new Camaro out to Belle Isle a week and a half before the unveil. It'll probably be arriving the day before via enclosed trailer.

Agree completely. There's no way they are gonna drive it around without camo before the unveil

I would never consider a Camaro a 7/8 scale Corvette.
The reverse would more likely be true.

id like to give the dude the benefit of the doubt that he knows what a Sky looks like. but at the same time I really doubt GM would be driving a Camaro around on the street before the reveal.

GM has kept the 6th gen so secretive that there is no way they would risk poperozzi getting a spy shot during an escort by a parade of Corvettes! I'm sure it will be delivered to the unveil in a covered transport vehicle!
