Possible to Disable hill assist?
Does anyone know of a way to defeat/disable the annoying-ass hill-assist feature that GM felt the need to impose on everyone?

This is just my opinion but I've had nothing but manual cars for the last 20 years. I think this hill assist is great in the Camaro especially in bumper-to-bumper. I have the V6 so my Transmissions different my clutch is different and possibly my Hill assist is different.
I know it's no help to you I just thought I'd throw it in here |

In the 5th gen you could replace the yaw sensor under the console with one from an auto. Haven't seen anything about doing this on a 6th gen though. I will say the hill assist on my '17 ZL1 isn't near as aggressive as the one on my '13.

Don't know why anyone would want to disable it. It only works on steep hills and it's not intrusive whatsoever. Maybe OP is too macho for Hill assist.

Does the hill assist work automatically? How do you activate it?

I haven't driven a 6th Gen M6 but I found it to be an annoyance on my 5th Gen M6. The other thing I found annoying on the 5th Gen is that when Hill Assist activated it displayed a very brief warning that went away. If you were on a gentle slope and weren't looking at the dash when the warning popped up then it was easy to miss it. Then you had to guess if it was on or off when you pulled away. I think it could have been implemented better on the 5th Gens. |

my problem is I cant get the sequence right to activate it. I don't sit at a light with the clutch down and shifter in gear. It doesn't seem to work if you put it in gear and quickly lift the clutch. It needs to be in gear for a while...

activates itself. just basically locks the brakes for you, i really like it for a manual car.

I bet there's a way to turn it off in the system if you knew someone who had the full dealer service datalink software to connect to the ECM.
It wouldn't hurt to call a few dealers. Most will probably tell you no they won't do it because of some silly liability issue but someone might. If not maybe take it to a non-dealer mechanic if he has the software for the ECM. They're usually more willing to do stuff like that for customers than factory dealers service departments. |

I'm not sure I would have the car tuned and risk voiding the drivetrain warranty just to disable Hill Assist.
