The C8 exhaust is very distinctly 4 sided tips, and this car has something with very distinct 8 sides on each tip. Also, the C8 and 6th gen Camaro have the dual exhaust staggered to mirror the curve of the cars. This set up shows that the dual exhaust are perfectly side-by-side.

Of course, I could be way off base here and it's possible that this all is nothing. But I can't help feeling hopeful. I really want to see a 7th gen Camaro soon after the 6th gen. And I really want one with a manual offered. I'm gonna keep the faith a bit longer...
I do believe we will be seeing a 7th gen but we have about 4 more years of the 6th gen to go yet , if not more . They need to keep it fresh and offer more through Chevy Performance parts ,i think adding a cold air intake that don't void a warranty was a big step forward. Maybe complete headers through exhaust tips are next .
I don't believe the manual will go away with Camaros or Corvettes , to many diehards that would pass on both if not available . I know i wouldn't buy anything but a manual in either one .

I like the refresh too, so I bought one.

With the recent news that 6th Gen will stay until 2023 and 7th Gen has no date yet, I highly doubt this mule has anything to do with the 7th Gen Camaro.

This particular quote from the article is hilarious:

Quote:
Other notable elements about this strange Camaro include the presence of a roll cage, twin dual exhaust tips at the rear, a raised hood (likely to clear a bigger/taller engine), and GM Performance Parts badges on the side skirts (just behind the front wheels) and on the rear bumper. These elements, in particular, make us conclude that we’re looking at some form of a GM prototype that wasn’t meant to have the engine currently powering the car.
So the car literally says "GM Performance Parts" on it loud and clear and the geniuses at GM Authority somehow conclude that because it has aftermarket parts, it's a "prototype" of some sort. Do they seriously not know GM offers a parts catalogue, which includes things like crate engines?

Everytime this car is seen, the articles about it are hilarious. This is a GMPP test car that's been around for years. Its used for crate engines and other GMPP parts and has nothing to do with testing new cars. Although I haven't seen it since it did the show circuit in Jetstream Blue with an LS9 crate engine, they also have a 4th gen that has morphed into different configurations over the years.

^^^looking at this again it is definitely a Borla setup, most likely used so they wouldn't have to fab anything up, fits nicely with most LS/LT systems in F-Body platforms. I doubt the car is doing anything more than engine/engine parts testing.

If we don't see camo'ed prototypes in July (ish) of 2021, then I'll worry there's no 7th Gen.

Or, of course, if GM comes out unequivocally and says no 7th Gen.

For me, it really is. I can see now that it's most likely only testing new parts, but DANG it I really want some good news about a 7th gen. I absolutely love my 6th gen now and plan on keeping it forever, but I'm also a major Camaro fanatic and I want to see the nameplate live on without another long break. I'm really worried about that, and I hope that all the articles so far about it are false. But I guess time will tell, either way.
