SS engine good for boost?

Any knowledge on how well these SS LT1 engines handle boost? I was thinking of going turbo as soon as possible. I wonder how the vettes were handling it.

LT4 has boost, so I'd say it's already been handled. How much more boost is another question.

I sold a z51 c7 to a buddy and he's running the S1 Vortec at 6.5psi... putting down 570rwhp... just Bolton... no headers, no exhaust upgrade... intake and supercharger only... he's about to get fuel upgrade, headers and bump the boost to 9psi... they say he should be around 650rwhp.

well I assume hes talking about the LT1

is the LT4 just a boosted LT1? or are there more internal differences than just boost?

Things LT4 has not on LT1:

Forged Alum. Pistons (10:1 CR vs 11.5:1)
Rotocast heads with larger volume
Stronger and lighter rods
Titanium Intake and Exhaust valves (non-sodium filled I believe)
Different cam with greater duration and lift
Lighter harmonic balancer
Forged high-strength steel crank
Higher-volume and pressure HPFP
Larger DI injectors
Stainless steel exhaust manifolds (looks like the SS will get something similar though).
10.5 quart dry-sump oil system
Different ring package (tougher coatings to handle the heat)

That's all I can remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure there is more. That being said, people have been boosting the LT1 for a while and like most DI engine the fuel system is the limiting factor. You will probably exceed that before you start breaking things.

I have never been comfy with the thought if FI on the LT1. Idk why. Just feels risky to me. Maybe its the absurd price!? Lol Not worth the risk, to me. But damn... Once you get blown(hehe) that is all you want!!!!

LT1 to 1000HP. Now if you are asking if you can just throw a turbo on it without working the internals...I have no idea - I would not be interested in doing such a thing.

Turbos are easier on internals at the same power level of superchargers. So less of a need for a rework. But the power is spread a bit differently so at the same power level superchargers are a bit faster in the 1/4.

But if you want to be an idiot and roll race, turbos for sure.
