Wink Recommend me a good family SUV

As the title states... and long story short.

Wife and I will be looking to have a child sometime in the next year or so, and I want to put at least 30-50% down on a $25k - $35k SUV/Midsize Suv (whatever the difference is).

Had my eyes on a few things... Cadillac SRX/Toyota Highlander/4Runner.

Maybe even an Acura MDX or a BMW X3... just soooooo many choices out there.

Basically I am looking for luxury, good for a newborn with great safety ratings.

I WAS looking at GMC Acadia (Denali) but it is subject to only captain chairs and I want to put my infant in the center seat (and I do NOT want a third row) I want storage capability.

So... any recommendations?

GMC Terrain Denali, Buick Envision, Cadillac XT5.

You can also get an Acadia All Terrain with 2/3 seating.

One thing I'm curious about with the Cadillacs, it seemed PERFECT for a while, but it started to hit me... the resale value on those take a nasty drop.

I mean new, they're like $35-$45k right? Then after a year or two with less than 35k miles, they're down to mid to high 20's.

I couldn't really find too much info on their reliability or major issues they've had with that 3.5L engine. I know they use that v6 across a few platforms around the same years.

Anything else I should know?

We bought my daughter a brand new Hyundai Tuscon 4wd base model for under $19k... that being said, you can go luxury with their Santa Fe and won't be disappointed!

You can not beat their warranty, and their JD Powers and ownership ratings are above the others... period! Rock solid interior, and it rides great... even the back seat in her Tuscon is pretty roomy!

I'd go with the Caddy. All the amenities with a solid drivetrain.

We have a Buick Enclave for traveling nice sized very comfortable and not high on the theft list due to its old man niche, our other choice was the Acadia but the wife liked the looks of the Buick better. The 3rd row seating folds flat and gives a lot of storage space in the configuration.

the highlander is a very nice high top camry. but i'm more of a tahoe/suburban guy even though the profit margin chevy tacks on is not favorable to the new truck buyer. blacked out tahoe or suburban. awesome. 65k. not so awesome.

Except for my Camaro we are a Ford family.

My wife just traded in her 2012 Escape for a new Edge. Pick your size and Ford has a model to fit what you are looking for. The new electronics are incredible.

I just drove 4 hours and bought my wife a new ford explorer for 10 grand off. I got a new 2017 cheaper than I could find lesser model 2015s with 40k miles.

So far seems light years ahead of her old escape.

I have a 2016 exploader pos as a take home car. It sucks. I soooooo wish I could have gotten a Tahoe instead, but our department went ford in 2015. Mine has been back to the dealer 3 times with under 5k on it and the transmission is garbage.

Already broke down huh....
Seriously though, My niece bought a new Cherokee and it has been the biggest piece of junk she has ever owned, in 3 years it has been back to the dealer for various problems 15 times, 5 times for transmission problems. Jeep refused her a buyback after the third transmission..
