Question Water spots on 50th Anniversary Hood Decals

I ordered and took delivery this year of a 2017 50th Anniversary 2SS.

I washed it and carefully dried it but when I returned home from the
car wash I noticed dried water spots on the hood decals.

How do I get these water spots out without ruining the decals?

My previous Camaro was a 1982 Pace Car.

Thank you.

DDS

There was a thread on here where I tried various cleaners on vinyl wrap to determine if they would damage the vinyl. I will try to find it and link it but the general finding was that cleaners, rinseless solutions, etc did not damage the vinyl. I would start with the most gentle thing you have to try to remove them, like detail spray first. Then move to stronger products. There are matte vinyl cleaning products available as well which may work.

I’ve polished my factory vinyl stripes several times for removing water spots. If they are matte finish, then you need to do something different.

Yup, if they are satin/gloss (which the OEM s are) a finishing polish like Meguires 205 will work fine.

From least agressive to most:
1. Distilled water
2. 10% vinegar in distilled.
3. keep trying increased vinegar strength up to 75%
4. CLR 10% in distilled.
5. CLR 30%
6. stronger mixes of CLR, but be careful... it’s strong stuff.

If CLR won’t take it off, it’s not a water spot.

Make sure you rine off the vinegar or CLR really well, and don’t let it sit on the vinyl.
