I actually like the way the Mach 1 looks, its super cool and the heritage is great. Mustang models also tend to be catchier than the Camaro non-SS models.

You're not looking in the right place.

Sam Strano and a guy who goes by 'shogun32' have also weighed in, each with seat time in SS/1LE.

Mach 1 pricing has been a sore spot from the beginning for more than a few. There's a big thread about that, too.

Just for you, my dear fanboy. Sam is a driver of recognized reputation driving both Mustangs and Camaros (when I first met him over 15 years ago, he was driving a 4th gen Camaro in SCCA Solo, and I'd already known him virtually from CamaroZ28.com).

Say what you will about appearance preferences that don't line up with your own, as they only matter to you.

I really considered the Mach 1 a while back (before it was available).. but knew the price would get wild, plus I was thinking dealers would toss on a markup on top. I like the look of it and love the handling package wheels.. But, went with a 2021 ZL1 instead.. almost the same price! Probably the same price if they do get slapped with markups!

If I can get one without the markup I'd love to add it to sit next to my 1LE.

For $62,000 usd, that car has cloth seats. Leather is another $1700. Yeah, **** that.

Meh, fanboys will be fanboys, the better the Mustang is, the more the Camaro has to compete so it needs to be better, the Mach 1 is a very good car, it's just that the price isn't right, and it being the "replacement" for the GT350 didn't go will with anyone.

People calling it a parts bin car, as if the ZL1 and by extension the 1LE aren't Corvette Z06 bins lol, I see no problem with them taking the best out of their better, more expensive cars and trickling it down, worked pretty damn good with the 1LE after all.

well said.
in the end both cars are amazingly capable machines and reality is most owners will never pilot either to more than 90% of what they are capable of so the subtle differences are really more for internet fodder and magazine sales.

I see what you are trying to say, but in the end, the Camaro ZL1 1LE and the Corvette Z06 share only the same engine… that’s it.. hardly a ‘Pick-a-Part’ situation with these cars…. The Mustang Mach 1 and the outgoing GT350 share quite a bit of parts..

for you guys.

Sam Strano's handling and shock absorber reviews for the two card carry a lot of weight here.

I get just as sick of reading the endless visibility gripes over on M6G, and I've briefly driven a 1SS, even threw a little hard cornering at it for good measure (non-1LE, but pretty damn good anyway).

Have Strano springs on our WS6. He knows his stuff for sure. I remember his SCCA 4th gen because we had the same discontinued Forgeline wheels (I had a 2000 SS at the time), he wanted to buy my set to have extra. In hindsight I should have sold them to him, but I was young and dumb.

My last two Mustangs, 2006 GT and 2012 GT I can't complain. Only things that went bad were batteries and such, normal stuff.

The Camaro, even a standard Camaro 2SS is a better buy than a Mach 1 IMO. Better style and slightly faster. Yea Mach 1 might handle a bit better, but cost tons more.

I would not trade my 2016 2ss for a mach 1!
