Except the alcohol will strip any and all waxes, sealants and coatings right off the paint; exposing it to the harsh elements that are creating this issue.

Everyone who lives in the Northeast and keeps their car outside uses canned de-icer from time to time.

Come Spring, we all wash and wax our cars again. There's no permanent damage.

PS: My Camaro doesn't go outside in salt conditions. Salt is 100 times more of a problem than de-icer.
