I really hope dealers will take advantage of the lower price of entry this is going to bring and NOT flood the markets with loaded 2LT turbo 4 cars...kind of negates the lower price of entry when you load it up to $30,000

If dealers are smart they'll keep 3-4 1LT Turbo 4's, manuals and autos, on the lot.

A couple thoughts..."You feel you are going faster than you are", and you can get to 60 as fast as a tank with a big cast iron block that is 45 years old. I ask, are these good things?

And lastly, no one is going to take this car to a HPD event in its current form. Unlike the SS, 1LE, and Z cars that can go from dealership to track with only a stop for gas on the way....I can't imagine anyone taking this car to the track without serious mod's to at least make sure you can get out of the way of the cars passing you. Let's pull back on the reigns with the "first of the best" stuff. I would not call this a performance car regardless of the badge on the car or the T next to the 2.0.
I believe you can get the braking/cooling package like the LGX cars, but don't quote me. That would definitely give you what's need to make a track day. The car would do well in AutoX for it's class I'm sure. There's nothing about sub 6 second 0-60 and low 14 sec 1/4 passes that is pedestrian. Let's not forget that was the performance of Mustang GTs not even 10 years ago. Maybe not performance to you, but there are many who will be in the market for these turbo cars.

Oh and some people love to romance about cars from the 60's and 70's as being fast. So the reference is indeed good. Gives perspective that this is not the old "Iron Duke" 4 cylinder of yesteryear.

The 4 cylinder will shine in the aftermarket. In a couple of years stock V8s will be getting their butts handed to them by modded 4 cylinders.

You can add the HD Brake and Cooling to a turbo 4, but it requires you to add on the RS package.

1LT T4+RS+HD Cooling/Brake=$29,130 MSRP.

That's about the bottom basement "track turbo 4" as you can get.

Yep makes since, need bigger wheels to fit the 4 pots. Course you could source the brakes and cooling parts, but then would probably end up spending the same. Hopefully Al's teaser about not forgetting the 2.0T guys will turn up a performance package like the 1LE for the LGX.

Thanks for the review! To me, it's the Turbo 4 or the V8; the V6 doesn't seem that appealing anymore.

Great read! Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm happy to see a turbo 4 in this gen of Camaro. I can't wait to see and hear one in person.

These cars will get modded by the "Fast and Furious" crowd like you've never seen....Should be interesting to see....

I've been to HPDEs where people bring Ford Focuses, mid-2000s Mustangs, and base-model Audis...People will bring all sorts of stuff out. It's not about the car as much as it is the experience, and what you learn while you're there. Even in base form, this car (while it won't be winning any races, or generating hero times) is an exceptionally well-balanced car that can be flung around a track.

So, perhaps I should clarify that while the car isn't built "for the track", like an SS, or 1LE. The Camaro team made sure that the balance was right, and the driving feel was engaging and fun...the result is a car that is very capable on the track. VERY capable!

I remember a while back, Al was explaining that there is no "base model" car this time around. No boring car to simply pay the bills. They're all just different levels of performance...and I have to say he's spot on.

This 2.0T is a bargain IMO.. wouldn't mind if it was closer to 3000 lbs though.

With the weight being way down I'd like to see this 4 bagger turbo with some 1LE suspension and a larger turbo...say 400-500hp....would make for a interesting track car.
