2016 SS has three radiators

Seems unnecessarily complex. Hopefully they're well protected in the event of an accident. If one gets damaged does all the engine coolant leak out?

It's for better cooling when the car is at the track. Similar to the Corvette cooling system. When you are hitting corners quickly the extra radiators provide cooling when there is no air coming straight ahead into the front grille.

If one gets damaged yeah the coolant will probably leak out. But it's like that with any car. You damage the radiator, the coolant leaks.

Don't worry. Be happy there is a high capacity cooling system.

Shit breaks in an accident anyways, I don't see the difference.

Overbuilding a car is not a bad thing.

How is that any worse than a single large radiator getting damaged & leaking out coolant?

But beyond that, wouldn't having 1 'medium' central radiator with 2 smaller ones mounted at right angles to the main, kinda like this: [, expose less radiator area to potential damage?

The base SS is a serious machine

10. The SS model is "track capable"

In anticipation of expected hard driving, the Camaro SS is rated as track capable. That means that it can run for an entire tank of fuel at maximum speed around GM’s Milford Road Course without cooking its engine, transmission, differential, or brakes. That’s why it has so many radiators.

I was not aware of the position they are mounted. Longitudinal mount would create a smaller target. I'm cool with that

Isn't the 3 radiators for 3 different components? One for engine, trans and oil? Maybe 3rd one is rear end oil? If so, many vehicles have these type of radiators already at least the trans and coolant radiator.

No. The engine and transmission have different coolers

Yes that's what I meant each one is for a different component. One for the engine, one for the trans and one for rear end. Most cars and trucks now already have separate radiators or coolers for engine and trans
