Pretty sure that's not going to be the stock exhaust.

I expect the Camaro to be slightly bigger than the ATS and need reinforcement for a convertible option. That and the ATS-V doesn't have the Tremec TR6070 like the SS will most likely have.

The difference between the C7 corvette and the ATS is less than 300lbs

The only ATS that is close to what the SS will be is the V and that is around 3700 lbs based on what GM has said. Even then, it has some carbon fiber body panels and uses the lighter version of the Tremec, not the TR6070 that the SS will probably have.

Right, but then again, the SS interior will not be has shabby and most luxury items will be removed.

I don't see the interior being as basic as you believe. People want the Camaro to be an ATS on the inside but have the performance the ATS lacks, while costing significantly less. Sure, the Camaro interior won't be as nice but I expect it to be close.

If the gap between the C7 and the F6 is 300 lbs, this will be REALLY interesting. I sure hope so!

For those who opt for the 2SS: Yes, but like you know, they only publish the starting weight figures of a specific model. I would think (hope) a 1SS will be around 3630lbs

That would be pretty awesome. I hope it turns out that way. If they can undercut the Mustang like that with the LT1, it should handle it easily.

Just to help everyone with the guesses. Here's the comparison of the 1LE, Scat Pack Challenger, and Mustang GT PP.
Weights: Challenger, 4235 pounds; Camaro, 3886 pounds; Mustang, 3814 pounds. Power: Challenger, 485/475; Camaro, 426/420; Mustang, 435/400. 1/4 mile: Challenger - 12.6 seconds at 112.3 mph ; Camaro - 12.9 seconds at 110.5 mph ; Mustang - 12.8 seconds at 112.2 mph With these figures in mind and the knowledge the car will be lighter with at least a slight bump in HP/TQ. I don't see 12.3 unreasonable. Just my opinion. Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...#ixzz3UaeGz2ya

12.6 is a very conservative time for the Challenger. There are a few slips of bone stock running high 12.2s and low 12.3s over on ChallengerTalk. I sincerely hope the Camaro is in that area, or it will be out gunned from the day it rolls of the assembly line.
I know the Camaro will be a better track car, so that doesn't need to be said. However, the first thing everyone mentions with cars like these (with the exception of the Z/28) is 0-60 and quarter mile times. |
