Oh, there's no confusion at all.

Even when the PT Cruiser (ugh), Prowler (UGH!), and even the 'new' VW Beetle (meh) were released, they were hard to find and dealers marked them up ridiculous amounts. This slimy practice is not limited to High Performance cars in any way.

It is a COMMON practice of most stealerships - something new comes along, they mark 'em up. A nearby dealer has a new GT 350 sitting on his showroom floor, marked up $22K OVER MSRP.

$22,000 OVER!

Why? Because some people will pay whatever to have the newest on the block.

Well, sure. And at 22k...they can totally take the hit to leave the car on the lot for a few extra weeks or a month. They'll never get that from me...luckily, it seems there are a good selection of Chevy dealers that won't be price gouging.

Just to clarify, the comment about confusion was not directed at you, just posted in general for people reading.

I was assured through email that the dealer I am working with WILL NOT have a stupid M/A on the Zl1. Msrp at most was the magic number, supposedly. I'll be damn sure to pull out some of the communication back and forth to ensure I get that pricing. No deal for me otherwise. We all know how that can go though.... As they say, welcome to the $h!t show.

Same here. Sales manager at a dealership north of Atlanta told me they never play the adm game. I'm fine paying msrp for a car like this.

Did they announce it yet??

Almost time for another car and trying to decide between the ZL1, Next Shelby GT500, or Maybe a lightly used GT-R.
Before the car is available, you will be able to order it. By the time you can order it, you will know the pricing.

With that in mind, I seriously doubt the general public will see the ZL1 on the lots before this fall (fourth quarter).

Not sure how reliable it is but I've been told that the car will not be available to order until the 4th Quarter. This came from someone working at GM. That means the product specialist at the NYAS was right. Xmas gift.

It seems almost cruel to release a car like this just before winter....

Which has me seriously thinking of waiting to order until March '17 or so.

Yes, I'm rethinking this now. I'm buying a car that I will drive home and basically park for close to 4-5 months. Meanwhile the warranty is ticking. Why? Perhaps the smarter decision is to wait. It's torture knowing its in the garage and you can't use it. I won't drive it if there's salt and crap on the roads. I've been sand blasted by trucks in the winter time. That's not the reason to get this car. I'll need to have a discussion with Mr. Oppenheimer

You'll want to call him by his legal name; "Oppenheiser", first.

I've seen the Oppenheiser - Oppenheimer mix up a few times here.

Here's something to help with the confusion:

Oppenheimer

Oppenheiser
