C&D ZL1 vs Z06 cover photos

I have a problem hoarding Car magazines. Always have. Dug up the 1/2015 CD ZO6 cover and compared it against this month ZL1 cover.

Can't help but notice the similarities and differences in both of these ground breaking Rides.

You have to remember that C&D photoshopped the ZL1. It even looks different in the article. One has the 5G ZL1 wheels while the other has the new 1LE wheels. So not a good comparison. But the Camaro does resemble the C7 a lot. Even the hood angles look similar on the SS.

You are right on the ZL1 photo shop pieces. The hood insert is body color. No flow tie. Black out rear spoiler. Painted body color calipers.

There are also photo shop pieces on the Z06 cover. I think they all look like doable pieces though. Things we would want to do to mod on our Rides

I see some definite cooling improvements in the ZL1 and aero taken right from the Z06. This new ZL1 is going to hurt a lot of feelings on the track.

The 1LE rims look so much better than the spokehell rims revealed on all 6gen ZL1s so far.

BTW, the #1 Car worth waiting for in the 2016 C&D was the ZL1. This was against 25 other exotics and concept cars 3 to 5 X the cost of the projected ZL1 price.

I really can't stand to look at that rendering on the cover of the magazine....so awful. But, neat comparison, otherwise.

I'd like to see if any of the magazines put a Z06 and a ZL1 together on the track just for a fun-to-read article.

I hear you on the ZL1 rendering. I'm thinking they were trying to either make an improvement to what the 6th gen ZL1 looks like or the Car was not out yet before the article. I'm thinking it was the later because they missed the A10 tranny in the spec summary sheet.

I'll be honest though, this rendering actually looks better than any pic I've seen of the actual new ZL1. The biggest problem most Gen 5 ZL1 owners have is giving up the Muscular badass looks of their Ride to move to the Gen 6. Recent Camaro car sales of the new model are at a 10 year low also. Could be price. Could be looks. Or both.

5th gen ZL1 wheels look good on the 6th gen. I don't think they're forged like the new 6th gen wheels are though.

Yes, they were, in fact.

Learn something new every day.

The 20" black, and 20" polished/painted ZL1 wheels were both forged...in fact using the same blank before being milled out...and they were lighter than the standard SS wheels by quite a bit because of it.

The Z/28 wheels were also forged aluminum, and even lighter still.
