Cammed 2010 SS VS GT 500
Now I have an LS3 with intake, long tubes, catless x pipe, full exhaust, ported TB and Janetty tune and short throw shifter..Next week I will have my 231 236 cam installed hopefully. My buddy has 08 GT 500 with cat back, intake and tune. The car rips pretty good. So after the cam, whos going to be king?? I kinda have my opinion, just wanted to see what you guys think. ..

I think your buddy still has you beat. He was sitting at or around 500hp stock but doesn't really have a weight advantage. I would say the Shelby in a close race with equal drivers.

I'd say the GT500 has an advantage. However, with a good enough launch, you might be able to edge him out. Everything's I've heard about GT500s suggests they are difficult to launch, particularly 05-09s.

If he is on stock tires and you can hook up decent you may have a chance. If he has sticky tires a modded gt500 will be hard to beat.

GT500 will win, even if you get a jump on 'em.

Look on youtube. The cammed LS3 will win in a roll. So, if you can launch better then him, then you should have him.

I love these VS threads, a bunch of camaro guys seem to think that they pretty much loose to everything I dont get it! Your cammed LS3 should have no problem pulling away from a basicly stock gt500, have you ran him before? I bet that GT500 is barely pulling away from you now, after the cam swap its in the bag.

I lurk

I've spent too much time on the threads reading about shit breaking to be comfortable launching my car. It sounds like our cars are similar, so if you have the money and don't care about replacing parts and have some sticky tires, it would be a good race and down to the driver. It's all about the first 60'. My 12.5 run was with DR and a 2 second 60'. I figure I might be able to shave .4 or so once I get a good launch, but I want to upgrade some stuff first.

If the GT500 hooks, my money is on it. If he doesn't hook, money on the Camaro. If neither hook, you may as well run the Hondas... The '07-'10 GT500s are pretty nose-heavy, and suck from a dig - with stock tires. Give 'em some traction...and they'll scoot. Cars should be close in weight, and the Ford doesn't lack power... |
