If I want a C8, in base form, if I wait around awhile....maybe I'll snag one for $57K? Even $55K?? As a best case scenario, I'd still be spending $22K more than what I paid for my SS. And that's a best case for a base C8. That's still a lot of coin to me.

There's a lot of "ifs and buts" in that article.
It boils down to "Surely GM wouldn't kill off the Camaro, leaving the Mustang and Challenger alone in the market, and leave the Corvette as the only V8 powered sports car/sporty car/coupe in GM's lineup" As if they (GM) hasn't done that before...granted the Challenger wasn't around back then. |

Now if GM would just step up and support the Camaro. The Challengers and Mustangs are outselling the Camaro because their manufacturers are keeping their crusty old platforms in the public eye with new models. Both have introduced interesting, innovative, current new models every year for the past several years. Ever hear of the Challenger Hellcat? Challenger T/A? Challenger Blacktop? Mustang Bullitt? Mustang Shelby GT500?
The Camaro has nothing with any “”Wow”” factor that matters to the general public or potential customers - and no advertising to back it up. The Camaro needs a high-performance, high-visibility, high-value model to wake up the world to its existence. (The LT1, with the 6.2 stuffed into a base car doesn't count - Dodge and Ford have already done that.) Or what about an ad campaign promoting Camaros as a full range of performance cars (Hot, Hotter, Hottest) for any fun purpose? Of course, it wouldn't hurt to fix the visibility issues, reengineer the low seating position with limited recline and evolve the upholstered rear package shelf into a rear seat that’s usable for humans... |

GM is losing cause all we get is some pansy bragging about JD Power awards from 3 years ago while Vin and the Dodge Brothers are burning rubber in a true Muscle Car. Remember when Jimmy Hendrix played during a Camaro commercial? And an IROC was the coolest thing a 13 year old could wish for? Chevy is destined for the same fate as Oldsmobile. 442's were cool. T Top Hurst Olds anyone?
Chevy should have some leadership with some balls. Hasta La Vista Camaro. It was a great run while it lasted. Maybe I'll buy a yellow SS to stare at for eternity..........GM even sold off the Transformer cars. |
