Collectible Cars...

Okay, I know this is a Camaro forum, but just saw this on Yahoo.com

The 67 was/is my favorite Vette, especially with the 427. Hear tell that the 67 was supposed to be the next version C3 but it was pushed back to 68 and sure glad it was. Heard also to avoid the 68!

Anyways, maybe a few of our Camaros will be highly sought after in 46yrs, although I will be long gone by then hopefully.

Hate to break it to you, but today's mass produced vehicles will spawn only an extremely small amount of anything even remotely "collectable". Even those that are deemed as such will only hood value to a very small group of people.

If anything, it would be the 2014 Z/28 that becomes a classic.

Even that's no guarantee. Look at the nearest similarly themed (purpose built, low volume, road coarse stripper special) car, the 2000 Cobra R. It originally sold for $54k and though it has held it value well, selling for very high $40k-low $50k, there is/has been a loss in value. I'm assuming the Z/28 will follow this same pattern and value near msrp for a very long time, but i just don't see a rise in value in the long run.

Usually cars lose value until they get to the 20 year mark. At 20 they become officially considered classics. That is when the cars will start to rise in value, if they are destined to be collectors. If the 2000 Cobra R is going to go up it won't be until 2020 (another 7 years). Because it is holding value fairly well, I predict it will go up. Maybe not like the Z/28, or hemi cars (of the 60's and 70's), but it will climb slowly.

You're overlooking the Gen-5 Camaro that already sells for a premium...the one you get via the lottery selection...the COPO...
