Sure, the tune should help, but I think its really just a MAF tune and not really a performance tune.

In the end, I do feel like it should make more power....but how much?
Given the car comes with a cold air intake I can see how putting another one on is not going to give a big boost in HP. But I am wondering what the tune that comes with the thing adds. I just don't want to drop $400 or more on something that only enhances the sound and what the car looks like with the hood up.

People spend more than that on mufflers that amount to exactly just that...aesthetics (with the exception for the very real weight savings).

Nobody has tested it yet, but I would be willing to bet that you see nearly the same performance with the K&N drop-in as you do with these currently existing CAI's for the V6. You'd have to get significantly more surface area in that cone filter compared to the K&N drop-in because nothing else about the intakes seem to be any better than the stock box. Performance-wise. They're not even insulated to reduce heat soak behavior.

From what had been posted before about the GM Cold Air Intakes, they were ALL to be CARB Certified (legal in all states). This came from GM Performance directly.

I can't help but feel like they took the stock intake. Replaced the accordion connector with a silicone one, took a universal gauze filter and attached that to the stock air box. Then they put some weatherstripping around the top of the box.

Really looking forward to some in depth before and after testing (along with testing the new calibration with a stock box w/ K&N drop in).

It looks exactly as you described and it appears that's exactly what they did. lol

Check Engine already on

Just had mine installed along with the flash at the dealer today and my check engine is already on after about 5 miles. Idle is EXTREMELY rough like 300RPM variance (700-1000RPM idle swing). When i am coming to a light and try to use the engine to slow the car down it now just keeps the revs/speed stable... Taking it back to the shop in the morning!

well that's not reassuring. I'll see if I get the same experience when I get mine tomorrow.
