Has anyone confirmed if the manual LT1 Gen 6 has the AFM hardware or not?

Like the title says, does the LT1 have the AFM hardware in the engine or does GM just deactivate it in the software? Sorry if this has been covered.

There is no AFM on manual models.

Oh wait you asked about hardware. My "assumption" would be different hardware, but you know what happens when you "assume".

I'm curious too. I had heard it would still retain the hardware but simply be deactivated. I wonder if any of this hardware can be removed to shave weight.

Pretty sure someone said that Al O. said the hardware is there, but it is off on the manuals...

From what we were told, the AFM hardware is still in the manual versions, AFM is just disabled. Someone would have to tear a manual LT1 apart to say for sure, but I don't doubt that the parts are there.

It seems pointless to spend the extra money on the AFM hardware and not activate it. I hope the shitty AFM lifters aren't in there.

Thinking about it I bet they are (in there) as the engine is only listed as an LT1, whereas the 5th gen was LS3, L99.

That's what I was thinking. Plus the redline isn't increased.

They are. It's the same LT1 as the A8, but the AFM software is not active.

OK thanks. That's a bummer. At least GM sells a non-AFM lifter/pushrod set if you want to change it out.

You'd have to change the cam though too in order to switch to non-AFM lifters, right?

Not necessarily. You might as well though while you're in there.

GM sells the heads minus the hardware in their performance catalogue.
