JDP Color Shift Halos
Hi! I was wondering if anyone has had experience installing these? I've been looking into buying some but I was wondering if it's a pain to install, how long it would take, and what you exactly have to do. Thanks!

If you want the best on the market get the NightOwl system not JDP.

It took me 8 hours but that is with a break and also waiting for my stupid electric drill to charge. It is a good system but they lack in somethings. Is it a good system for its price yes it is. On a scale from 1-10 on difficulty i would put it at a 6. That is just because it is so damn annoying unscrewing those tiny bolts out of the headlights. I drop some of them into the headlight and you probably will too and you got to shake the crap out of it to get it out. It is totally worth doing though!

Or do this instead: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255417 and avoid the ugliness of the led dots in the aftermarket halos.
Make sure you get the right numbers for the resistors though! Have fun! |

I've had both kits and the Night Owl kit is hands down the best. They both install the same, but a couple of things to consider are that the Night Owl kit allows for color correction. If your color is off just bit or you want a slightly different color, you can dial it in with Night Owl. The JDP kit tends to have a problem with white and your stuck with it. The other big things is that Night Owl is expandable and you control it ALL from your smart phone. Adding light with the JDP kit is difficult. Most end up with a couple of controllers which tend to be generic BTW, so others might be able to control your lights also. The Night Owl kit sets up a unique Wi-Fi link that only you have access to.

GEN5DIY.com also has a kit that is similar to both and i think is the better priced out of all of them. I have the JDP kit and love it but if you want the mass amount of options then the Night Owl kit has it all. Regardless of which kit you choose they all have great customer service just depends on how much you want to spend.

I started with the JDP kit and upgraded to the NightOwl controller. The JDP kit is great for someone just wanting a basic halo kit that looks factory. The NightOwl kit is the top of the line kit on the market but it's their controllers that set them apart from anyone else. Their customer service is also 2nd to none. JDP and Gen5DIY are also great vendors.
I am actually going to be helping a buddy install the JDP kit in 2 weeks and I expect to have it done in about 3 hours. The key is to get a long (2") T-10 Torx bit and a swivel socket. It will make the job a whole lot easier and save your sanity in the process. |
