SS or SS 1le for street/strip

I have done some research but I am only pulling up 1le vs mustangs. I would like to know the difference between the 2 ¼ mile time wise. Is it worth it to get the 1le as far as drag strip performance? It seems to be more of a road race style set up. Any input would be great I'm sure there is already a thread about this but I couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance

The 1LE also has a steeper rear end.

3.91 rear end in the 1LE.
3.45 rear end in the SS.

Yea I saw that that is defiantly a plus! The interior stuff is no big deal to me I like the regular SS.. I did see it has a "special" tremec Trans but don't the SS come with a t56 also?

they both come with a T6060 not a t56. the 1le has different gears in the transmission.

I think, like you said, it's more of a road course car. Get a regular SS and put 3.91 gears in it. However I believe the 1LE has stronger axles but if you are going to upgrade that may not mean much.

1LE is deff worth the extra $3500 if buying new. Hell the wheels and tires alone are selling for $3k on here. Also get the recaros for $2k and if you don't want them you can trade with somebody for more than what you paid as they retail for $2k+ per seat

Oh I saw someplace in my googling it had a t 56...
Power is the same so it's mostly just suspension parts which I don't think would hurt at the strip by any means. I believer all of them are independent rearends anyway.

Yes. Unless you are talking about an auto SS vs. a 1LE. The L99 in the auto makes around 20-30 less horsepower but are faster stock for stock in the 1/4. You cannot shift as fast as an auto. They are not the slushboxes of old.

1LE is set up more for road and autocross. If you are talking 1/4 then get a SS and put the 3.91 rear gears in it. If you are talking about tracking the car on a road or auto cross, then get the 1LE.

The suspension upgrade is for better handling. It isn't set up for weight transfer like you would need in a drag setup. If you're primarily into drag racing, the 1LE upgrades are not for you.

What he said. If you want to drag race I would get the SS but if you want handling then get the 1LE
