Stone Chip of DEATH...ugh!

Guys,

With only 1000 km's on the car I noticed this today. To make matters worse I drove the car to the shop that is covering the entire front end with Xpel today. Pretty sure it must of happen while driving to the shop - talk about bad luck.

Let's just say a few choice words came out of my mouth...the only silver lining is if you notice the stone chip it is right on the lip of the hood. The touch up paint will help or so I hope?

Word to the wise, for anyone who has this car...get the front covered with Xpel or 3M IMMEDIATELY...don't wait.

I know its just a car but man I have a splitting headache right now...ugh!

I'm thinking about bubble wrap for mine, a layer of styrofoam peanuts, some newspaper and a big ziploc bag!

I hate the crap on the roads. I'm pissed too and it's not even my car!

That's exactly why I put Xpel Track Wrap on mine until I got it to the Xpel so today. Might have looked like crap, but atleast I didn't have to worry about anything like that happening.

It looks really bad up close and you are correct it looks like a divot BUT the detail shop said he can build up with multiple layers with the touch up paint and then it will be covered with Xpel. He actually had this very fine detailed brush.

Good advice. Mine went from dealership to the Xpel installer same day and
I drove 6mph the whole way two blocks over. Wasn't taking any chances. Best of luck getting her fixed up!

In retro spec that was my plan also BUT the shop I was dealing with couldn't fit me in until now and I had the urge to drive the car while waiting. Now I am paying the piper. Will post pictures when she is complete.

Dr. Color chip. Dealer touch up paint is always junk. Should of used blue painters tape before traveling...

I'm sure expel would be a really simple process on the ZL1 1LE. 🤣

ZL1 1LE is a freaking race car. You will need a whole Pit-Crew just to tune the suspension on the 1LE.

Dr color chip won't get it. It's too deep. It'll color it the same as the car, but you'll always have a gouge unless you use some filler first.
