Also, the built-in nav hasn't misled me at any point so far, although I haven't yet tested my "killer" spot that did get the old Garmin in the other car confused.
I use the factory nav as well. I've had no problem with it. Plus I like the speed limit showing up on both the DIC and HUD.

Waze's best crowd source features are coming to google maps (finally!) I use waze only for the crowd sourcing features. Google Maps is by far the superior map/navigation system in existence but the crowd source cop alerts wins out in my car lol. Soon it looks like we'll have the best of both worlds! I see myself deleting waze off my systems within a couple weeks of google adding the features, assuming they work exactly like waze does now. Hell if they are smart waze and gmaps will talk to the same database in the back end so the data users submit (cop sighting etc) on waze just shows up on gmaps.. I bet this is the beginning of the end of waze completely..

https://bgr.com/2018/06/29/google-ma...teraction/amp/

... now if Escort/Beltronics would give up on their private crowd source radar detector app and just incorporate waze / gmaps with waze features.. all would be well in the drivers vs cops on going battle

there are a lot of options. I like the factory Nav so far. Its the easiest and safest solution for me. Hasn't steered me wrong yet so continue to use it.

I can send the destination from my phone MyChevrolet app. Start car, start Nav and a prompt to download destination comes up. Accept and go. Its kind of idiot proof and don't have to worry about driving into a no cell service area or the phone going dead because the GPS power drain exceeds the charge rate on some. Can drive with eyes always on the road, less of a chance of getting sucked into a distracted driving situation that a phone may present; the factory Nav comes up on the HUD.

I use IO6 Nav as well. Much more convenient for me.

I like to go on my phone or tablet before a trip, go into Google Maps, bring up the router, then when I get into my car after plugging my phine in and connecting to Android Auto, address is already there in recents. Also if I have a hotel reservation, it shows up already in the home menu of AA, just have to select it and brings up directions. Real simple!

I'm SO EXCITED to get Google Maps for CarPlay!!!

Too bad it won't be out (I guess I could go with the Beta) before my big road trip in late July.

Point of info: You don't have to use the beta version that the video creator mentioned for ANDROID AUTO (I don't know about carplay). At one time, only certain versions of Waze would talk to AA, but now that feature has been integrated into the regular Waze releases, so as long as your Waze is up to date, any version will talk to AA.

To answer the OP's question, I use Waze on my commute, but not really for navigation; I only want the cop and accident alerts. For pure navigation the OEM system seems fine.

Waze is not without problems. On my Samsung Galaxy S4, it uses a ton of battery (and yes I have it set for less battery usage), so since it is plugged in it tries to charge heavily to keep up. This makes the phone heat up, and it will start shutting off apps in an effort to cool down. The first one it kills is Waze. Not too much of a problem if you already know the way, but not cool if you are having to follow turns in an unfamiliar area. You can re-start Waze and it will ask if you wish to continue navigating which is good, but less dicking around with the phone would be better.

The other problem with Waze is that here in the greater Boston area, the Waze network can be unresponsive, so you may not always get a connection.

So, pretty good when it works, but it is not 100% reliable.

I have the beta, but I don't think Waze has updated their app yet.
