L99 w. Eforce questions

Hi Camaro5,

I have a few questions regarding the data I’ve logged over the weekend on my car and I feel like someone with a bit more supercharger knowledge will be able to help me.

Here’s a quick breakdown of my car:

2010 L99 w. an Edelbrock Eforce supercharger on stock bottom end, cam, internals. It’s currently got ID850’s, ADM FPCM, ZL1 fuel pump, JRE fuel rail mod along with SLP 1.75” headers w/o cats and an axle back w. the edelbrock eforce CAI. The blower has the 3.5” pulley installed on it.

I was driving around this weekend and looking over my boost levels on HP tuners and my car makes roughly 6-6.5PSI peak boost.. generally speaking the car doesn’t boost much until I somewhat get on it which from my understanding is how that blower is designed. My IAT’s were sitting around 45-55C steady with an outside temp of 26C and my fuel pressure never dropped below 55PSI. My car feels slow.. I know everyone will line up to tell me the eforce isn’t a big power blower which is fine i get that but i feel like 6 psi is very soft and it’s safe to say i feel like the car can handle a bit more boost and id like to turn it up to 8-9 psi peak boost if possible in stock bottom end. My AEM AFR gauge reads 10.0 at WOT throttle as i ease up it slowly gets back to 12-14.7 but if i keep my foot to the floor she stays at 10.0 which to me seems a little fat.

From my understanding the 3.25” pulley should get me to those levels but i’d like someone to confirm that and is a belt change required when you got from the 3.5” to the 3.25” pulley and if it does need a belt does anyone have a part number? And lastly the big question is.. at this amount of boost will my fuel system be adequate to fuel the car or will I need a BAP. I understand a retune will be required but if my current fuel system can handle 8-9 psi I will defenitly be changing out the pulley ASAP.

Edit: I know with a good cam and heads package i can defenitly wake up the car at 6psi but for now that’s not in the budget and that’s not what i’m looking for for an answer haha.

Thanks!

I’m not supercharged, but boost pressure is boost pressure. Once you take the factoRy valve train out of the picture the bottom end is an LS3. They can handle 10-12 all day and I’ve heard 13-14 with the right tune. Fuel Octane is the limiting factor. 8 psi is easy for the motor and should net you around 580-600 depending on cam headers ECT. I can’t help with the belt question but hope I shed some light on it. I also have ID850 injectors and my dyno turner said they can push 700-750whp on gas 650-700 on E85

Well mathematically speaking a headers, intake, axle back L99 with a good tune will bet you 360-400 to the tire.. add 6lbs of boost to that and your making a soft 450-480hp. Thats why i’m leaning towards a pulley drop for now, it will give me the 8-9 lbs i want then with a dyno tune or remote tune i can probably bring my under boost AFR’s closer to high 11’s ish rather then tap out the gauge right away at 10.

When my parts guy called Edelbrock for a belt PN, the guy on the line basically had no information for him regarding belt size or belt PN. I’ve read hundreds of threads and posts recently and didn’t find a concrete answer regarding my fuel system being adaquate the way it is now for that pulley drop or if a BAP will be needed, some made more boost with less and some said they didn’t need it and some had it so it’s tough to gauge what i should do.

I don't have an L99, but I have an Edelbrock E-Force on my LS3 with no cam added. See numbers and mods listed below in my Signature.

What size pulley are you running?

You fuel system will handle close to 600WHP. You may need a shorter belt not sure. AFR at 10 is quite rich. I am around 11.2-11.6. You might stay a little richer than that as I believe the Eforce isn't too good at keeping IAT down so a little more fuel can help with knock retard. Drop the pulley and get a good tune it will wake up.

I was just informed by a tuner that I should run a meth kit. The alkycontrol kit looks really nice, I like the kits ability to use the washer bottle. I haven’t filled my washer fluid in 9 yrs so I should be good to run it like that. Is that the go to kit for the Camaro or does someone recommend something else?
His take was the meth would cool down my intake temps (eforce problem) and it would help my problem of only being able to source 91 octane fuel where I live. With a fuel system that can handle 600whp, I can pulley down to a 3.25 or even the 3” add meth and not run a 10.0AFR at WOT and maybe lean it out a bit and that should net me about 550whp. give or take.

If you drop the pulley size, you definitely want to get a shorter belt. I'd go down by 1/2" (~13mm), to maintain current tension level.

For the fuel system: I was at 650whp on a ZL1 pump and an ADM FPCM for several years, using the Whipple supplied 65lb/hr injectors. I think a BAP would cover you for sure up to 8-9psi.

I'd adjust the tune to achieve your desired AFR @ WOT - leave the methanol out of the tuning portion. Once you get the fueling where you want it, then you can turn on the meth to control IATs, just my personal preference.

AlkyControl has a good kit. I'd also check out ProMeth. AEM has probably the best methanol controller out there, it's small and powerful.

That’s a good idea, I understand the concept of meth but i’ve never ventured down that road, a lot of members actively use meth so i figured i’d inquire.

I usually change my belt every year for a piece of mind so i’ll cut my current belt after i change it and measure it and get a shorter belt and pick up a spare at the same time.

I was planning on dialing in the car without any meth first then dial it in afterwards with the meth. What should i see gains wise with the additional of meth?

50-100 HP/Trq... just send it.... no need to dial it it.
