JRE rough idle cam installed

Just did the install this weekend. Here's an idle video. Definitely sounds nasty in person.

sounds great I would imagine if you have a l99 a6 you would need a converter with this cam...

I think it can be tuned pretty well to have decent manners with the L99. Jannetty would be who to ask. It's also a blower cam grind, it's not a huge cam.

We'll find out eventually. Waiting to bring it to the dyno with the new pulley and get it final tuned in a month or two. It's still winter here.

Nice. I am looking for about 700WHP 10-11lbs. Haven't changed my pulley yet though I will drive it on this pulley and see how it feels before I decide which pulley to go with.

I have an Edelbrock supercharged L99 and was looking at installing this cam early this summer. Ideally I would like to keep my stock torque converter after installing this cam, if you could provide me with some drivability feedback that would be perfect.

Did you install the LS2 chain damper that everyone raves about? What did you do with your AFM lifter oil feed ports in the valley did you block them off? Did you replace all of your lifters with new non AFM lifters or did you reuse 8 and use 8 new ones.

I haven't gotten to drive it around yet. I would call Jannetty if you have questions about how it will work in an L99. He also has a smooth idle blower cam. I do not have AFM I have an LS3. I did not pull the heads I reused my existing lifters. I did not replace the oil pump or timing chain /tensioner because I didn't feel like dropping my oil pan and my car has 18k miles. If I had I would probably have done the l2s dogbane tensioner. My tensioner was fine. What you have to remember is everyone that has a problem posts it on a forum, so it may look like lots of issues when in fact there isn't. for every post about an issue there are thousands that didn't have an issue. Just keep that in mind.

I understand what your saying.

I was curious about the LS2 damper because everyone raves about it, I have personally never seen the LS3 style tensioners fail in person but have seen pictures online. I also don’t want to drop my oil pan so keeping the LS3 tensioner is probably the route I will take. My car is low mileage (roughly the same as yours) and i was planning on reusing my old 8 non AFM lifters and then replacing the 8 AFM lifers with new ones. Some people will tell me that what i’m doing is a cardinal sin and I should be hung upside down for doing this but I don’t see the harm in doing it

My bad on thinking you had an L99, i never read your contact info haha. I have spoken to Ted about the cam, he assured me it can be used with the stock torque converter. I understand the benefits of having a higher stall torque with a cam but if it behaves wel on the stock torque I would leave it alone.

If you are replacing the AFM lifters and already pulling the head then I would absolutely replace all of the lifters. You are already there and the little bit of cost is worth it to have them all new to mate to the new cam. I did not pull the heads and didn't want to as it's a PITA to pull the Whipple so I kept all the stock ones. It is a slight risk but it saved me 15 hours of work that is the only reason I didn't replace them.
