Test Drove a '13 5.0. My quick review.

Test drove this today. Along with an 07 vette. Here's my little review.

First off...this dealer had about 15-20 Mustangs lined up. There were so many different and unique colors. It was great that Ford offers so many options. Since Synergy Green and AGM are gone the Camaro just offers basic colors.

Most of this will be pretty much repeats of what other members have said.

Alright pre-test drive inspection-

-Engine bay looks spectacular. Nothing like an SS. Very clean

- Spacious trunk, can easily fit 3 sets of golf clubs.
- Exhaust sounded great for stock. MUCH better than a stock SS.
- Car seems much smaller

Driving-

-Clutch and shifting. Spectacular. Clutch has 0 resistance and shifts gears like butter. Nothing like an SS. When I got back in my SS I nearly stalled the thing because of the resistance of the clutch.

-I was in complete tard mode trying to get this thing in reverse . Kept hitting the gas and inching forward lol. Finally, the salesman said that I need to push down on the shifter before shifting into reverse

- This one had the G-meter (fricking awesome), starting tree, and some other goodies. Definitely something I hope GM incorporates into the 6th gen (other than the ZL1 and z/28).

- The 5.0 seemed like it hard no power. At all. I can't see how this thing is faster than an SS stock. No idea. Maybe my headers and CAI just woke up my car or something. But I was not impressed at all with the power of the 5.0. My car throws my head back into the seat. When punching the 5.0 it literally felt like I was in a v6 impala. I guess the ride is just so smooth that you feel like your going slow. Which brings me to my next point.

- The car is VERY smooth. Going 25 feels the same as 95. I felt very comfortable and felt I had complete control other the car.

- Even with the lacking feel of power...I did break the rear end a bit loose in second gear. Impressive. However, and SS feels the same.

- You can hear the exhaust pretty well from inside the car. It sounds nice. I bet it sounds awesome with a few mods.

All in all...If this car blew me away, I would have looked at some numbers. It did not...at all. I have set up test drives on a BOSS 302 next week. I doubt that will give me any wows either.

Track apps is standard on all premiums, not track package. A 5.0 with 3.31's vs one with 3.73's is huge. So when you drive the boss, you will notice the gear difference. I had a 13 with the track package which gives the 3.73's. I went from a 10 Camaro to a 13 gt and I noticed a huge difference, mustang being much quicker.

Isn't the track pack the boss?

I told the dealership that I was 90% positive that the "track pack" was the BOSS. They insisted the "track pack" was just the stuff in the dash.

Track pack has boss diff, boss radiator and boss oil cooler in addition to brembo fronts and the brembo package springs.

The boss gets a better engine in addition to that intake. Track key is an ford racing add on, not standard.

DOHC engines tend to make more of their power higher in the RPM range. Probably why it didn't feel as quick as the SS.
