BTR 220 Cam?

Hello everyone, I recently found a tuner near me that seems to know what they are doing with these cars. I got my 6 speed manual bolt on car tuned. Car put down 462whp and 495 lb-ft of torque on e85, on a dynojet. Was quoted $4800 for a cam install I believe that includes parts too. May want to go cammed in the future I was talking to the tuner and he recommends the BTR 220 cam for my goals. I am looking for a stout n/a cam setup that drives like factory, that will chop, and make some nice power with reliability and longevity in mind. I live in a small city so i do drive the car in traffic. I would like something that would work with a supercharger if i decided to boost it. He says this cam works good with a pro-charger, (leaning more towards procharger, but possibly a positive displacement supercharger) I am wondering if anyone has experience with this cam, and what kind of supporting mods I would need with it? I am looking for a second opinion so i know what to expect before I talk more with the tuner on it. Also what kind of gains can i expect? Hoping not to lose any torque. Thank you for any help.

Current mods are: Roto-Fab, LT Headers, Hi-Flow Cats, Borla Atak Catback (NPP), Flex Fuel, Mishimoto Catch Can

I just did a btr 225. Tuning isn't finished yet but it definitely chops. The btr cams have more lift then most mild cams for this engine but they have next to no bounce so the valve train should last.

OK good to know, I don't see a lot of videos on the BTR 220 cam. I see a lot of videos on their "stage 2" cam is this the 220? what kind of supporting mods should I look for with a cam swap like this?

I think the staged cams where before the spintron series with the 220 225. They're older. They sell the cam packages with the stuff you will need springs, lifters etc

I have the JRE Terminator cam (similar specs) to the BTR 220. Video clip below with idle audio...

Supporting mods I would consider, while to motor is out... (none required)

1. Katech or TSP VVT delete front cover
2. Katech or TSP DoD delete valley cover
3. Katech C5R chain
4. LME Dogbone chain guide
5. ATI balancer
6. Porting your stock heads
7. BMR motor mounts

if you go with a btr 220 cam, id simply ask them what upgrades they recommend

from a power standpoint, at minimum id do

msd / LT2 intake manifold
103 / 95 mm throttle body
ati damper
ported heads
LT4 low side, high side & injectors

i think only the cam youd see 50-60 whp
with the stuff i mentioned 90-100 whp

the stock LT1 intake manifold is terrible. at least do something in that respect

So i went with btr 220 cus i have a 2022 1LE with an A10 and stock stall and i daily it. But i think im goin to go with a circle D 2600-2800 stall and get the trans tuned. Car idles great still gets round 20 mpg round town higher on freeway, an made over 530 whp with cam only fbo and 93 octane. They are adding E85 to a station near me so gettin tuned for that soon. Im debating on adding ported heads have a set done an ready were months out when i got the cam so couldnt wait. Just sucks cus its running sooooooo good i dont know if itll be worth it haha. But for me here is what im running

Kooks headers, high flow cats
MSD manifold unported
Katech 103mm tb
Katech C5R timing chain
Katech oil pump
LME timing chain guide
Morel lifters
Btr platnium springa with titanium retainers
Btr push rods
Rotofab intake
Tuned on dyno

Tryin to justify 1800 more to get the heada an put them in i just dont know if itll make a noticable difference.

Ported heads will be another ~20whp and the e85 will be another 20-30whp. I say go for it and make that engine breathe more efficient to compliment the cam.

Were these OEM heads that were already done with a core exchange? That turn around is crazy otherwise lol
