Installed a CAI intake on a my 15 SS BUT
The lid was a PITA, literally my lower back hurts from bending for so long anyway in order for me to close the lid i had to take out the weather strip, tuck the lid underneath and then put the strip back on except for this part wont go back in. This was the only way i could close the lid and tighten the screws. Did i do something wrong? Anyone else have problems with this?

As you can see the lid prohibits the strip to go back in

installed CAI
Hopefully this picture will help you out with fitment. I know the lower left 1/4 turn screw is a pita to screw in. This picture was pre-painting the tube lol

The z28 intake looks clean. I was thinking of getting it but went with CAI since everyone on here praises it. I had roto fab in my v6
That looks perfect. Thanks ill keep trying

Thank you. All I did to install the lid is tip the front edge a slight angle slide it under the weather striping. Then slide lid to the right so it goes between the "pinch weld" on the fender and turn the screws a 1/4 turn to lock it down.

Sorry to thread jack, but it's always so hilarious on here. Many people rip K&N for their intakes, but praise the Z/28 intake. Guess who engineered, designed and developed the Z/28 intake? Yep, K&N!
Good luck OP!

And other makers also make intakes for Chevy "Stock" performance, Actually Vararam was the one making the intakes for the COPOs and well once they had a promising dual bowed long runner intake manifold they were developing but it never quite got produced after waiting and waiting for them to patent it and they called it the VRX....... it faded away and changed to just a cold air intake for nomenclature.....But their cold air OTR over the radiator intake was the best for a 2010 for a long time with being able to tilt the radiator to allow air flow giving it some ram air with its design.
Theres Rotofabs a lot like the z-28 go figure.... Different styles look more plastic to some though; and holding the lid at the angle to slide it under on the fender side first is what I always do with my CAI. Lets face it our stock air box..its hideous.....anything is a improvement. Some of the nicest air boxes I have seen on here were all CAI with the lids laser cut to make shaped artictic stuff....LOL you can CNC plexiglass to great effects..then add some lighting.. to a dragon or a eagle or what ever. But given the styles available and costs I am fairly certain I could adapt my airbox and scoop to a Supercharger and others may not like that so much or function so well. Old pic but you can see my edge is tucked under the seal front and side. You may need to tweak it making it have a lower mounting point

The new Vararam CAI is called the DRX. The intake manifold that never was: the VRX.
