"Break In" for Catback Exhaust???
I was told that the Borla Atak catback that I recently installed will "break in" and sound better / louder.
Will some miles on it really make much of a difference?

Never heard of a break in period on a exhaust. The tone my change some after some heat cycles but I doubt it will get louder.

Depends on the muffler design. If the muffler has fiberglass packing in it, the packing will "break down" over time. This will change the sound as it does. Usually isn't a significant change (IMO), but a change nonetheless. A couple of heat cycles over a few hundred miles usually tells the final tale.

I put my Solo Axle back J-Pipes on over 2 years ago.
They keep getting louder/more aggresive sounding all the time. Someone here on camaro5 said that 'carbon buildup' is the reason. I'm not complaining but I hope they have maxed out at this point.

i think they may have used a bad word choice you dont need to "break it in" but with miles most exhaust do get louder

I'd say it might get a deeper tone, but I doubt it will get any louder. Mine took about 1000 miles to fully break in.

Sounds weird, but my friend had a Borla Catback put on his LS and at first it was VERY ricey sounding .. The mechanic said it would break in after some mileage and now it sounds a hell of a lot nicer and not ricey at all.. Maybe it's just me who knows.. :P
