I do not know the material used or the resin matrix it is in. But I was a carbon fiber tech for years.

For sexy parts we would often put another coat of resin on and process, to make the part look 'deep'. From what I see, they did that for this part, and also the part is made like crap if the photo is showing me all the facts. The fiber looks very dry in the photo.

In my (ex-professional) opinion that can be fixed that with the right resin, soft tooling, an IR lamp, and some patience.

But it looks like the whole part will eventually do that on the edge.

Bumper to bumper 3 yrs/36,000 miles. A clear case of clearcoat failure; It should be fixable.

It looks like there is only one layer of fiber over the plastic vents. I know the insert is thin, but I would think there should be more than one layer.

Typical dealer. You can have a good shop repair this. The insert will need to be re-cleared.

Hey bud, that's not a big deal to fix. Just remove it and have it re cleared. Keep in mind, the clear Gm uses has a tint to it that makes the carbon look darker. If you just clear it, the parts were the clear lifted will look different. To fix this, just have the paint shop tint the clear with a few drops of black. This will give you a unified look.

Shouldn't cost more then $300. IF you were close, I would have you go to our painter and he'd have it looking better then new.

Any top rated body shop should be able to do it. Look for a high quality auto body shop in your area.

Same thing here. Mine was covered under warranty. My car is a 2014, but was built in November of 2013. I ran out of warranty on my previous car before I realized it.
