2020 Camaro Traction Control Auto Off!

Now this shit is just getting dangerous. It was raining so I had my jacket on and while adjusting the temp controls I turned off the traction control. What moron decided that the location was a good idea?

Before you all say "learn how to drive" I am quite a capable drive but if I am not expecting it to be off that is just dangerous especially with these tires, this HP/TQ and rain.

Yeah, I inadvertently change drive modes while shifting my car. It's not the best location for the mode selector either.

If you would've scanned your dashboard, you would have seen the icon showing you it was off. Driver error!

I do that also but not as much, and technically that can be even worse if you send it to Track Mode.

And their off. I do, as well as my mirrors, all 3 of them. But with the HUD it make scanning the dash less predominant - just like it is supposed to work - keeping your eyes on the road and mirrors and not the dash.

Do not try to defend the lack of proper engineering on my driving skills. Hell, shifting through a corner I could turn it off with my jacket on.

There is no need to be able to turn off TC or move through driving modes fast enough to warrant those buttons being in a bad engineered area.

Changing the drive modes does not turn off traction control. You need to be in the PTM settings Sport 2 or Race mode for it to be off.

All 4 main drive modes Ice, Tour, Sport, and Track all retain stability and traction control.

If you are in PTM Sport 1 and accidentally hit the selector toggle, then yeah, that would do it, but if you are in wet conditions I would think you would be only using the "Wet" sub setting, which is 3 clicks away from Sport 2 (which is the first setting that turns off traction control)

Fair enough, but in my 2SS there is no need to be in SNOW/ICE in the rain. And Even if I was, SNOW/ICE then 1 click up is track.

No matter how you slice it, stupid ass location from a stupid ass engineer, who probably drives a Prius.

Hey Fran: I wasn't insulting your driving skills! I just said it's your own fault it got shut off, not the car's fault.

do you struggle at gas stations? is always putting 93 octane in your car a challenge because there are so many choices? when you muck up, is it the stations fault because they didn’t pump it for you? do you frequently pull up to the pump and get out to discover the fuel fill, in fact, is on the other side of the car (damn it not again)?

if so, you and fran can be friends

I agree with OP. Not the best location for that button— and others have stated the same thing.

I’ve never had issue with the location... I would bet a nice sub compact won’t have any sophisticated buttons in the console.. maybe that would be a safer vehicle for you.

PS: Glad your mistake wasn’t worse and you’re ok.

Yeah, not the best placement HOWEVER, unless you are hard holding the button for 5 seconds or longer, you are not turning off traction or stability control, you are merley changing the throttle, steering (and if you have MRC ) the shock mappings going from any of the main 4 modes.

You should read your Owner's Manual for a more comprehensive understanding of all the modes and what each one does.

Not sure what to say here other than there’s no problem with the ergonomics of the dashboard. I’ve never even come close to pressing a button anywhere on the car I didn’t intend to press.

Could be wrong but I think he’s talking about the center console.
