Maggie CAI recommendations

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Magnusson blower kit. I ordered from Ted Jannetty a little over 2 weeks ago. I'm currently running a cold air inductions CAI that I purchased before doing my homework - I'm not dissatisfied with the CAI but all the top tuners seem to prefer the rotofab.
I know that the Maggie is designed to be used with the factory intake. Rotofab also offers a Maggie compatible unit. I'm in need of some guidance before I install my blower and start working with Ted on remote tuning.
1. What are the gains for rotofab vs stock on a Maggie equipped car running a 95mm pulley?
2. Is the CAI unit compatible with the Maggie kit?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Jim

The Rotofab is the best choice. You only need the box and filter set up. The tube that comes from magnuson will be a direct fit for the Rotofab.

Congrats on the Maggie. I have heard my car has a Maggie installed too...just haven’t see it since the installation. I think Laynlo has doubled the mileage on the dyno from when I dropped it off.

It would be interesting to see the difference between CaI kits. I thought Ted had a thread where he did an in depth comparison. If it wasn’t Ted, maybe Pray.

I've seen several NA CAI comparisons but don't recall any for FI cars. Intuitively, it would seem that FI cars may not benefit quite as much, but I could certainly be wrong.

It is absolutely critical when it comes to making big numbers. The ZL1 RotoFab Intake is large and fits the Maggie perfectly. Its the same inner diameter as a 103mm tb which is the next restriction, the next restriction after that is the stock Maggie inlet/tb adapter. The more air you can cram into the rotors of the Maggie the more power you will make.

FI cars benefit more...Rotofab shows upwards of 25whp over stock box.

Here is the difference that I have found between stock and Rotofab using the dry filter. The benefits get larger the more power you make. We were running a 1009HP LT1 on the dyno last week and the Rotofab dry filter was worth 40HP over a similiar sized K/N at this power level.

If the preference is to remain with the stock sealed airbox (stealthy Stock-Like appearance inside the engine bay - as much as possible), what can be done to reach close to the Rotofab power improvements?
I.E. Filter itself? Plumbing into the box / diameter, Etc.?

There is a YouTube thread on modding the stock box. Even then Pray tested it on a NA application at the track and the Rotofab still trapped 1mph higher in worse DA. Most do not realize that a dyno is not going to show the full gains of a Cai or ram air because it needs the incoming air pressure to work as designed.

I'm convinced. Looks like a RotoFab CAI is in my future. Haven't researched yet, but I seem to recall that a Maggie compatible unit is available from Rotofab. Seems that it should be cheaper given that, I assume, it is a standard NA unit minus the elbow?

Hello Jim, Thank you for your order, from what i know the CAI will not work with the Maggie, I had tried to fit it on our shop car with no luck.

You have a choice between the stock air box or the new ZL-1 CAI or Rotofab CAI to fit your Maggie.

There will always be some benefit from aftermarket cold air kit on a supercharger typically in the upper RPM shown in the Dyno graph above.

I would be happy to discuss your options over the phone at your convenience.

Thank you

Ted.

Thanks, Ted. Since it appears that the rotofab CAI complements the maggie very well, it probably make sense to throw one on before we start tuning. I'll give you a call tomorrow

Go big or go home! Ted talked me into going all out - ZL1 dry filter Rotofab is on the way!
