If you are drag racing you should go with the A10, The M6 out of the hole is simply GARBAGE and there is no fix in sight. I LOVE manuals and my drag racing days are behind me, however had I known the bogging in the M6 I would have bought the A10.

I was a manual only guy until this year. I bought an A8 Z06 and A10 ZL1 since this January. The manual game is a lot of fun and I know I'm going to miss it, but I still have 3-4 manual cars in the fleet and will sell/upgrade them with other manual trans cars. But anyways, I don't think anyone could be disappointed with the A10. It's likely the best torque converter automatic ever integrated into a performance car. Quick shifts, quick down shifts, paddles are usable, and it is the fastest iteration of the ZL1 so you get the best showing possible.

I owned an '01 WS6, 500HP, with M6. Sworn manual only guy...until now.
After all the homework reading the positive press, and the test drive, went with the A10. Two weeks in to it...NO regrets... As fun to play with in manual shift mode as a stick...and cool to throw in D and not worry about a clutch. Best of both worlds. Even in D, mash the skinny petal on the right and instantly plants all your organs to the back of your body! Cool as hell. |

Thanks, you are moving my M6 certainty. Still on the fence.

I love my manual with active rev match its a load of fun, as I bought the ZL1 1LE I had no choice in transmissions.
Honestly, If I had the option to get the A10 I would have done it.

A manual transmission guy my whole life.
Switched to the 10 speed after a test drive. This automatic is simply amazing! Tyrolblue67 |

The only real reason to have a manual is if the vehicle that you are looking at only offers it or the auto option is crap or that someone just wants that connection with the vehicle. I love manuals but you cant beat certain ones these days with how fast and awesome they shift. No matter what kind of driving you're doing. |

I'm going to argue on 'the only reason to pick a manual' - there remains a tactice/experience/asthetic to driving the stick. For pure performance they suck; but there also is no substitute for double-clutch-revmatching-heel-toe-ing a 4->2 shift, or revmatching a 5->3 (on a manual) either. Also, even in gear, and this is a thing that makes autos faster launching of course, is that even in-gear there's slip. An auto and a stick stuck in 2nd (discounting the ratios) are a different experience due to slip. I say *different* not better/worse. Pick yer poison. |

A10 performance is simply amazing, my driving style and the way I want to drive though misses a M6.
Only complaint on the A10 is the paddle or manual mode is sloppy and lazy with shifts. I would like to have a perf shift mode that I can engage and it's just "on". The tap the pedal to the floor and get the lowest available gear is awesome. The phantom performance shift mode I'd just like to have that "on" rather than driving style or whatever that has it on/off. |
