Too late for me... just upgraded from 16 to 18 with sights on a 19 Camaro now. I would love to have this LT4 in a Centennial Edition.

In the late 90's Montana had no speed limit during daytime hours. The lawmakers just had to change it so they could write more tickets. Here are the facts.

1. After the new Speed Limits were established, interstates fatal accidents went up 111%. From a modern low of 27 with no daytime limits, to a new high of 56 fatal accidents with speed limits.

2. On interstates and federal primary highways combined, Montana went from a modern low of 101 with no daytime limits, to a new high of 143 fatal accidents with speed limits.
I-20 and I-10 in western Texas (heading toward El-Paso) have 80 MPH limits.

While seeing higher speed limits than 85 MPH would be cool, I would think it would also be pointless except for an enthusiast standpoint (like someone who would appreciate the Autobahn) mainly because fuel economy wise you're operating WELL outside of your cars efficiency band for most makes and models. Then once you leave Texas state ... at best you saved maybe 20 minutes.

I guess my point was that higher speeds in this case are not more dangerous, fuel efficient no, as the deaths were doubled with speed limits. I think if you don't have to worry about cops and speed constantly looking in the mirror, people can relax and enjoy the ride on a boring straight road for 75 miles long. Therefore being much safer instead of slamming on your brakes because you think you saw a cop ahead when it was only a broken down car.

If they could only put that motor in any car that can hold it. A Chevy ZR2 truck with 650 hp!!! All four wheels smoking!!! That would be fun.

No fuel additive. Just Exxon 93. Having no traffic to mess with really helps. Got on the road around 4:30 am.

For the record, I wasn't trying to set any records. Just jumped in it and headed to Dallas. It was an uneventful drive, cruise control stayed on for ~95 percent of the time. Just before I got to Dallas I thought to look.
